Description

The Hamilton Prong Training Slip Collar is a quick and effective training tool for owners of new dogs or those with behavioral problems. When placed behind the ears and just below the jaw, a prong collar can help teach your pup not to lunge or pull on the leash. Hamilton takes pride in creating quality products, and the Prong Training Slip Collar uses hardware that’s been tested for strength and safety. The linked design allows you to remove or attach additional prongs as necessary for the right fit. This collar comes with “live ring” and “dead ring” features for proper training. Always start by clipping the leash onto both rings at once for more slack, which is called the “dead ring.” For dogs that don’t respond well, try connecting the leash to just one ring, or the “live ring.”

  • Great purchase!!

I used one similar to this in training my Rottweiler 18 years ago. So, I recommended it to my mother in training her high energy, behavior problem German Shepherd. This particular one was ordered for her. It works great!! She is in her 70's and is now able to handle her 80 lb. 8 month old, very large for his size shepherd. Thank you so much for this item!

  • Strong, thick links but still easy to take on and off.

Very thick and strong links. Thicker than I thought it would be. My dog responds well to gentle reminders with this collar. Easy to separate links to take on and off. It is a bit longer than I thought it would be so I took out a link.

  • Not Enough Links

I did not see the length for this collar listed. I had to buy extra prongs to extend it to fit my dog's neck. Some of the prongs kept popping open so I had to bend some completely closed with some pliers.

  • Changed our walks

My 100 pound Great Pyrenees no longer takes me for a walk. This heavy-duty collar is exactly what I needed to tame her. I did need to purchase 2 extra links for her thick fury neck.

  • Fairly good collar

At first my family and I were unsure about putting a prong collar on our dog, but some of our friends who have a dog convinced us to get this kind of a collar. We did not get this so much for pulling as for ignoring. Our dog was having trouble ignoring other dogs, he just wanted to play and would whine and pull, even though he sees and plays with other dogs often. This collar, along with more training, helped him a lot. Now he can walk past other dogs and ignore them. And we didnt have to feel bad about it because it obviously did not hurt him, just reminded him. The reason I put only 4 stars is because it is difficult to put on. I have a pup who is having a hard time learning not to pull on a leash. I have tried just about everything, then I saw this! She no longer pulls on a leash, we enjoy our daily walks now! life changing!!

  • Pinch collar Review

Works great for our dog. It is a little hard to get on and get off at times. We try to squeeze the prongs together and push them through the small holes, but it's a little harder then ones we've used before.

  • be careful

This collar will come apart if you have a strong dog and he pulls hard in a sideways motion. Sort of if he was lunging at another dog and you were pulling him the other way. You need to have a back up collar with a second chain attached to the main leash. That will be a safety catch. The problem with it coming apart doesn't happen all the time but when it does it can be a serious problem. Other than that it's a fine collar. You just need a backup on when using it.

  • Prong collar

This is a good heavy weigh collar. I like that part but I have a lot of trouble trying too squeeze the two prongs down so I can fasten the collar on my dog.
