Description

The Hamilton Prong Training Slip Collar is a quick and effective training tool for owners of new dogs or those with behavioral problems. When placed behind the ears and just below the jaw, a prong collar can help teach your pup not to lunge or pull on the leash. Hamilton takes pride in creating quality products, and the Prong Training Slip Collar uses hardware that’s been tested for strength and safety. The linked design allows you to remove or attach additional prongs as necessary for the right fit. This collar comes with “live ring” and “dead ring” features for proper training. Always start by clipping the leash onto both rings at once for more slack, which is called the “dead ring.” For dogs that don’t respond well, try connecting the leash to just one ring, or the “live ring.”

    Works great

    By on

I have never liked the idea of a training collar, but I have not known anyone who has used one either. After my 89 lb girl started planting her feet when she wanted to stay in place, snatched the least out of my hand when she saw something to chase multiple times, and pulled me so suddenly it hurt my lower back, I was desperate to try almost anything. I tried this collar on my lower leg before putting it on her. It was uncomfortable when pulled but didn't hurt. I have used it on her many times now and she does not pull anymore (maybe once occasionally), even when bunnies are within sight. I still use her retractable leash, but she recognizes each and knows which one she can pull and which one I have never liked the idea of a training collar, but I have not known anyone who has used one either. Boston terrier

I ordered this to get a handle on my rambunctious 6 month old Boston terrier. She's very hard headed and won't LISTEN and hard to train. I have used them for over 25 years on plenty of my bigger dogs and clients dogs, and reccomend them for years and people have been amazed at the difference in their pets . When used right these collars do their job but you do have a few people who abuse the use of this collar. That's what I don't like about the bad rap it gets every once in awhile. I've seen nothing but great comments on here and I thank everyone for their support and common knowledge of how it works. I have a 140lb male great Dane. The biggest size fits perfect. I bought extra links and didnt need them. I appreciate ther versatility, I can remove 2 links and use it for my 80lb female.

    massive and heavy

    By on

I ordered this for a 30 pound dog with a 14 inch neck. I ordered the middle size, which according to the size chart was what she needed. When it arrived, I was shocked by how massive and heavy it was. It was 50% larger and double the weight of the one I use for my 60 pound male. The chain portion weighs too much for me to feel comfortable offering it to anyone else I know.

    Do not like it..

    By on

I got this because numerous ppl at the park told me their dog trainers told them it helps with pulling on the leash. I never liked these types of things but eventually I gave in and purchased this prong collar and it actually helped at first with pulling. (You Do need to work with the dog when using this collar, not just pull on their neck with it) but after he got used to it, it didn't work at all and I couldn't stand the thought of the prongs against his neck and throat. So I purchased the gentle leader headcollar and I would recommend the gentle leader above the prong collar.

Too big and bulky otherwise great

    By on

Bought for my boy who gets leash reactive towards people and dogs. This solved my problem! My only issue is with the 3.8mm recommended for my dogs neck size was it was too big and ended up taking 4 links off even with that I cant get it to sit properly on his neck because of how bulky it is. Wish I got the 3.2mm but it is what it is.

    Great prong collar.

    By on

I've been using Hamilton prong collars for years and have always had good results. The prongs are a little tough to remove at first but once you get the hang of it, it's fairly easy to put on/take off. Keep in mind, this collar is not for all day wear and should sit behind the ears and under the jaw.
