Description

The Hamilton Prong Training Slip Collar is a quick and effective training tool for owners of new dogs or those with behavioral problems. When placed behind the ears and just below the jaw, a prong collar can help teach your pup not to lunge or pull on the leash. Hamilton takes pride in creating quality products, and the Prong Training Slip Collar uses hardware that’s been tested for strength and safety. The linked design allows you to remove or attach additional prongs as necessary for the right fit. This collar comes with “live ring” and “dead ring” features for proper training. Always start by clipping the leash onto both rings at once for more slack, which is called the “dead ring.” For dogs that don’t respond well, try connecting the leash to just one ring, or the “live ring.”

I bought this collar as a last resort...I too have a puppy baby that I love and adore and wouldn't dream of inflicting pain. Before I would walk my baby with a comfort harness, I don't believe in walking him by his collar, trust me I get you. I will admit that walking him began to get difficult, he's not a big boy, but he is active and he has a mind of his own (as most dogs do) so when he would pull on his leash or try to run, the comfort harness would cause him absolutely no pain, and the leash I had wrapped around my hand would cut away at my skin. It was not fun. I decided to try this to make a better walking experience for the both of us. Before even trying the fit on him I put it on my ankle I bought this collar as a last resort...I too have a puppy baby that I love and adore and wouldn't dream of inflicting pain. Before even trying the fit on him I put it on my ankle and yanked, it did not hurt at all, the prongs are not sharp, it was simply uncomfortable. Being certain now he wouldn't be harmed we went on a walk with this new training collar and as many other reviewers mentioned, its like walking a brand new dog. Occasionally he did tug, and the leash did not stay in the ideal "U" but that only reassured me that he was not being harmed so I did not mind. Overall, this product allowed be to regain control, instead of my pup walking me, I now walk him in a safe and effective way. … more

  • Difficult To Manage

Didn't love this prong collar- had one before that worked great and lost it. Wasn't able to locate the same brand so I got this one. This one is difficult to open and close the prongs, making it a pain to put on and off my pup. Needless to say it's been sitting on my counter and haven't been using it on walks because it hurts my hands to put on my pup....... will continue looking for one that works better for us.

  • not right for my dog

I purchased this for my dog for a training class that required it. It was a little small, so I ordered a couple of extra links (thanks, Chewy, for waiving shipping on those extra links!), but I still couldn't get it to stay on her. I brought it to the trainer and the trainer said one side of the chain was missing the critical part where the links attach to. I ended up having to buy a whole new collar.

  • Amazing Results

I have this 65lb Hound & Lab mix that will drag me everywhere. Now that its winter I'm terrified to take her out because of Ice. But the second I put it on her she didn't pull one bit. I did a true test and took her outside as a neighbor was walking their Newfoundland, she wanted to drag me over but didn't. Such amazing improvements. Highly recommend to anyone with a dog that pulls. Christmas came early for me.

  • It's a great training tool

Helps a lot with teaching a big dog how to learn commands to walk nicely on a leash. Need to be careful though b/c it could potentially injure the dog if the owner is too rough. Use only for walks, not as a regular collar. A little hard to get on.

  • Best collar for your big baby

I bought this collar for my 100lb baby boy because he is just so strong for my father to walk. This collar is amazing, just enough for him to respond but not harm him. It’s so comfy he won’t take it off, he is proud of his “necklace.”

  • Finally normal walks

Took in a 9mos purebred Chocolate English Lab female from a family that bought her from weening and left her crated or in a fenced yard with no one home. To say the least she was 75lbs of out of control mess. Within on week of daily walks she walks normal on a leash. I bought the largest but don’t know if it would fit much longer if i had to continue as it is a tight fit over her head.

  • Effective collar

My Flat-Coat retriever responds very well to this collar. The collar looks painful but it is NOT painful at all. It just let's my dog know what I want. The pinch collar prevents the 'tug of war' that I had with with my dog using regular collars. I was also told that you can adjust the size by adding or removing pinch loops.

We have two fox terrier puppies about 7 months old. We have been making do with just cloth collars for walking since they were 3 months. One was making himself out to be an all star puller and the other needed constant reminders. I did our 1st walk with these leads and holy smokes! A bit of a rough start with having to do a couple harsher corrections and then a few snug reminders. The most peaceful walk in a looong time. 1 person can walk both with absolute ease. Fitting wise, I purchased the small link size. I had to add two links for our larger pup and will likely need to remove a link for the smaller pup.

  • Allows for enjoyable walks!

My little 35 lb pit bull/beagle mix LOVES walks, as do I, but I do not love being dragged down the road, while feeling like my arm is being pulled out of it's socket. I had avoided this style of collar in the past because it looked painful and the last thing I wanted to do is cause my dog any pain during our "leisurely" walks. After trying a variety of different collars and harnesses as well as the obvious training, this was my last ditch effort before just taking walks by myself. The first time I put it on her, a whole new world opened up! Look at this! Walks CAN be enjoyable now!! It's seriously like I'm walking with a brand new dog!
