Important Information

Fleas rise to the top of your pet's coat as they die, so consider it a triumph if you start seeing more fleas at first, after treating your pet. If you’re still seeing fleas after application, it may be because your pet has picked up new fleas from the environment, which may include other pets, surfaces and outdoor areas. It may take up to 30 days to break the entire flea life cycle. Additionally, you should also treat sources of new fleas (i.e., carpet, yard, etc.) to ensure complete flea control.

Ingredients

Active Ingredients: Tetrachlorvinphos 14.55% (S), Methoprene 1.02%.

Instructions
  • Remove collar from package, unroll and stretch to activate insecticide generator. As the collar begins to work, a fine white powder will appear on the surface.
  • Do not unroll collar until ready to use. Place the collar around the dog's neck, adjust for proper fit and buckle in place. The collar must be worn loosely to allow for growth of the dog and to permit the collar to move about the neck.
  • Generally, a properly fitted collar is one that, when fastened, will snugly slide over the dog's head. Leave 2 or 3 inches on the collar for extra adjustment and cut off and dispose of the extra length.

I bought this then immediately took it off my dog after reading about how Hartz flea products are known for causing chemical burns. I now am subscribed to a monthly flea treatment that is delivered straight to my door.

    Flea collars

    By on

They were not to hot they didn't repel or even keep fleas away from the collar. I had just gave my dog a flea dip she dried and I put her on, cleaned her bedding and the kept her on the deck away from ground. Brought her in and there was a flea crawling on the collar. Will not buy again!

    Collar Made of Candy!

    By on

Put this collar on my lab mix dog and one week later fleas still crawling all over his poor head!! Fleas actually crawling on the collar. I know it is a cheap collar but seriously, fleas all over his face. And this is after I dosed him with Pet Armor liquid.

    Not very effective

    By on

I've gotten this a few times for both the cat and dog but this time it hasn't helped the dog at all, if anything she has more fleas now than before. I noticed when I unwrapped it that it seemed pretty dry and flaky unlike the powder that's usually on them.

For what it is it does pretty good!

    By on

Not the best but, when the best is sold out sometimes you need to work with what is available and that was also a product I am quite familiar with as to how my fur kids react to it via sensitivities or allergies, etc. Hartz Guard Ultro Pro works best in a pinch when your low on money and/or chewy is sold out of the other stuff. 1 of them is super itchy with it on, so going to try something else and the other 2 do pretty good with it. :)

    Economic Choice

I did some research before I bought a collar for my dog and am satisfied with this purchase. He’s only been wearing it for about a week, but I haven’t seen any fleas and notice he doesn’t scratch as much as he would. The only thing I found lacking with this collar is there there is no easy/convenient way to set the closure. My other dog has one too, and its a lot easier to close because it has a little frame like how belts have that you loop the collar through. This collar did not come with a buckle like that. Instead it just has the collar, and at the very end of it, there is like a staple that you have to tack through the other end of the collar when you get the length that you want—this I did some research before I bought a collar for my dog and am satisfied with this purchase. Instead it just has the collar, and at the very end of it, there is like a staple that you have to tack through the other end of the collar when you get the length that you want—this comes with the risk that it will poke through and bother your puppy. We had to take some pliers to the staple to flatten it on the other side so it would not constantly poke his neck. Also that staple alone felt like a flimsy closure so we also applied some zip ties around the collar itself to make sure it would not flop off accidentally one day. So when it comes time to change it, we will have to use scissors I think. But that’s a problem we will deal with in 7 months, so whatever. Would still buy again, only because other puppy collars on this site have way worse reviews. … more

Within 24 hours my dog had a 104.2 fever

    By on

Be very careful if you buy these collars. I have 3 cockapoos, two are 12 years old, and one is 8. After putting on the collars, one, 12 years old, showed signs of lethargy about 18 hours after putting on the collars. I noticed he had low energy and then showed no interest in eating dinner. I took his temp and it was 104.2. I took all their collars off, clipped his collar area, bathed and shampooed the collar area well. If I hadn't noticed, I am not sure what would have happened to him overnight. At best, we would have gone to an emergency vet. He still had a low fever in the morning, but was fine by early afternoon. My dogs are otherwise very healthy, active, and swim daily. Possibly the swimming Be very careful if you buy these collars. Possibly the swimming leached out extra chemicals. I am done with chemical flea/tick treatment of any kind. … more
