I absolutely love this vacuum. It is lightweight so it isn't cumbersome or awkward like other hoses, which makes my fish less stressed during cleanings and water changes. The built in squeeze bulb with check valve ensures that accidentally breaking the siphon isn't a big deal. The amount of water this little vac can move is impressive and on most tanks I keep the hose pinched so I don't empty the tank before all the gravel has been cleaned. I have 3 tanks that have their bottoms at floor level and my Python brand vacuum isn't able to lift the water out of those that well. This works great, and when the waste water in the bucket reaches the waterline of the tank I can manually pump the water I absolutely love this vacuum. • Not the most sturdy

    By on

I needed a siphon filter for my turtle tank and I liked the idea of the siphon "pump" feature shown on this item. When I received it, it seemed a bit more fragile then what was described. The hose kept kinking while just moving it around in the water and the "pump" (blue) can't handle much squeezing. It may work if used on a beta bowl but not in an aquarium. I decided to order a different siphon in hopes that it would be made of better material.

  • Not for small tanks.

I was looking for something to clean a 1.5 gallon tank. This looked like it might work but it takes forever to get the suction going. By the time I got it going properly there was almost 50% of the water out of the tank. Maybe it would work for a larger tank but not for the small ones.
