WILL THE X-SMALL WORK FOR A 8 POUND CHIHUAHUA????
Answer by ChewyOct 17, 2019
The sizing chart may be located by clicking the “Size” tab, next to the “Description” and “Instructions” tab, just under the product photos. We recommend comparing each pet's paw measurements with the size chart to determine the most appropriate size.

Nice idea, but fell flat.

I really wanted to like these booties. My dog recently had a big paw injury, and I needed some kind of medical boot that would allow gauze, as well as eliminate having to slide something over his wounds. When I found this boot, that carefully wrapped around the wound, it seemed perfect. However, there are some faults. 1. The boot rarely stays on when my dog is walking, no matter how umcomfortably tight I adjust it. 2. The gauze that coordinates with this boot is not accurate sizing. I got a medium boot and both medium & large gauze pads. The medium gauze pads barely covered anything at all within the boot. So, size up in gauze when purchasing. 3. The boot sizing is also inaccurate. My dog should wear a large, according to the sizing. I purchased both a large & a medium, just in case. Honestly, the medium fits decently, but he really needs a smaller size. However, the jump down from a medium to a small is way too much. So, bare that in mind as well. 4. The boot fell apart (holes, shredded material, etc) within a week of having it. All that being said, if you just wanted to put your dog in the boot for lounging, so they don't agitate or mess with their paw wounds, then it would be fine. Anything else (obviously needing a boot for walks, potty trips, etc) is a no go. Hope this review helps.

Wrong size maybe?

I ordered these in the past and I ordered size medium. When I recently ordered another pair to have a total of four and replace the old ones, I ordered mediums again. Unfortunately they are larger in size compared to the ones I received the first time about a year ago. Did the company change their sizing? All other booties from other companies we need size large usually it seems, I ordered mediums but it seems maybe my 70lb pitbull needs a small? I'm just a bit confused. They work when you need medicine to soak in for an hour or so as long as you're monitoring. Mine pulls the booties right off and even more so with the larger sizing but they help a little when they fit properly. The first time I ordered them they were great though so maybe there's just a mix up and I received the wrong size this time? It didn't say on the package that I saw. If you need a spot on the pad to heal these honestly will work just pull really tight and make sure you get the correct size.

Good in Theory

These are nicely made, breathable boots that wrap instead of slide on, so you'd think they'd stick right? Unfortunately, I've tried every method for getting them to stay on, but after a few minutes of walking they slide right off. Doesn't matter how well you wrap it as the material is just too slick. Unless your dog is bed ridden, I would not recommend.

Paw boo boo

I bought these when my dog tore up his rear paw. He tends to tear up his paws every couple months and I'm typically able to protect it with gauze or make up pads and coban (vet wrap). His most recent injury caused him to be lame, which is new. The vet gave him some antibiotics for any secondary infection and advised us to keep it clean and dry. They also wanted us to avoid walks. This is usually easier said than done. I bought these to keep him from licking at it and allow him to put some weight on his paw. The bootie was easy to fit and comfotable for my dog. He is used to wearing booties. I didn't put it on without the gauze due to the nature of his injury. Within an hour of wearing it he was able to put weight on the foot and was back to himself. A couple days later we used it to take him on walks, putting a balloon bootie over it. Eventually we just used this bootie to walk. The outdoor bootie got super torn up. We bought a second one to have on inside. I feel like it helped the recovery because my dog couldn't disturb the injury. I would recommend buying additional gauze inserts because most people aren't going to take it off to take your dog potty. They also get mucked up if your dog has a wound and it's best to keep it clean. The velcro is strong but easy to apply. The neoprene is breathable and stretchy, making it good for injury but comfortable for the dog. The sizing is very very off as others mentioned. I have a 80lb dog and I think I got a medium or small? His paw is 2.25in. I only knew his paw size from other booties we've bought. We did listen to the vet and open his wound to air at night when he was sleeping. I have this on hand now in case there are more owies.

Not a Good Fit

Like many others have said, the sizing isn't great and the boot comes off even while just roaming around the house. Will not be using. Will not purchase again. Great in theory but life isn't about theory it's about action.

Unable to Stay On

This probably works for indoor use, but even on short walks outside, these kept eventually coming off no matter how tightly I Velcroed them. I was unable to use them for the intended purpose so I would not recommend this product.

I do not recommend.

I ordered these because my dog developed a skin infection between two of her paw pads, and her foot was raw, swollen, and irritated and needed to be protected. I put it on, she couldn't even stand up the botttom was so stiff. Then it promptly slipped off, even though I had it wrapped as tightly as possible around her leg. In less than 2 minutes, this failed. Waste of money, at least for my dog.

Not for active dogs

We've had these for a day, and despite getting the correct size, he's kicked the boot off twice and I have had to refit it several times because it was starting to slide off. It's fine if your dog is just sitting around all day doing nothing but the second they start to move at all - & I do mean at ALL - these boots are coming right off. The gauze insert also does not seem to be providing significant value. On the whole these do serve their purpose but I would not get them again.

No more satellite dish

I was so pleased with this bootie. Took my dog just a few minutes to get use to it and no more licking of the paw. When I took Memphis back to the vet for a recheck the vet was amazed that it had healed so quickly she wanted to know how I kept him from licking his paw. I showed her the wrap and she said that she would have to look into getting them for her office. Thanks Chewy!
