FAQ

Has Health Extension been affected by any pet food recalls?

No, our formulas have never had a single recall.

What is the difference between “chicken” meal and “chicken by-product” meal?

Chicken meal is a high quality concentrated protein source that contains muscle meat. By law it may not contain heads, feet or intestines. Chicken by-product meal contains a variety of chicken “parts” including heads, feet and intestines.

Why do you use garlic in certain formulas?

We add a trace of garlic to our canned dog food to increase palatability. While it is a member of the onion family, garlic does not contain a meaningful amount of disulfide and will not cause a dog to become ill.

Where are Health Extension foods made?

All Health Extension products are proudly made in the U.S.A.

What is the shelf life of Health Extension?

Health Extension dry foods have an expiration of 1 year from date of manufacture.

American-Grown Produce

Whole food ingredients grown on American farms provide nutrition you can rely on. Picky cat loves this

By Susie on Apr 9, 2021

My very picky eater loves this food. It’s more dense and has more moisture than most canned cat foods I’ve purchased.

    Two thumb up

By Kipster on Oct 9, 2020

My cat loves and is a high quality food that our breeder recommended. She continues to research cat food brands as companies change their ingredients. This is excellent quality wet cat food.

    Hesitant to eat.

By Rachel on Apr 16, 2019

Wanted to go to a more healthy food so we tried this - read some good online reviews about this brand. My cats liked the dry but don't care too much for the wet. Moving on to another wet food.

    Recipe change

By Suzanne on Aug 10, 2018

Since the change to the recipe, my foster kittens are not as enthusiastic as they once were with this food. I think we should have been apprised of the recipe change as well. I feed my fosters as well as my own cats with this product and it has been the best I have used so far. My foster kittens were weaned onto this and they are having a little difficulty getting used to the graininess of it now. My adult cats seem to like the new recipe better.

I really want my Siberians to like this food...

By SiberianMama on Sep 10, 2018

I bought this because the kcal is the best I've seen, and it's a good value. But after 2 orders, my cats have clearly decided they don't like it and won't eat it. Ugh.
