FAQ
Has Health Extension been affected by any pet food recalls?
No, our formulas have never had a single recall.
What is the difference between “chicken” meal and “chicken by-product” meal?
Chicken meal is a high quality concentrated protein source that contains muscle meat. By law it may not contain heads, feet or intestines. Chicken by-product meal contains a variety of chicken “parts” including heads, feet and intestines.
Why do you use garlic in certain formulas?
We add a trace of garlic to our canned dog food to increase palatability. While it is a member of the onion family, garlic does not contain a meaningful amount of disulfide and will not cause a dog to become ill.
Where are Health Extension foods made?
All Health Extension products are proudly made in the U.S.A.
What is the shelf life of Health Extension?
Health Extension dry foods have an expiration of 1 year from date of manufacture.

My kittens hear the click of a spoon on the can and come running and meowing for Health Extension Tuna and Prawns. The patiently wait for their bowls to be filled then run ahead of me to their eating spot and chow down. Highly recommend.

They love it!
I have 7 lazy cats who prefer liquid or juicy pate food they can lick up rather than chew. Just kidding but it seems like it. This food has morsels but is very juicy and they love it. I scrape the leftover morsels onto a big plate and put outside for the ferals. There's no waste. This was such a success I decided to try the other Health Extension flavors ....... nope, they wanted no part of them, sniffed the food and walked away from their plates. Cats! Go figure?

Not for my cats
Always looking to try new foods, but this one was not a hit with the kitties. It's poultry free, but I can't recommend it.

The Only One They'll Eat
The only food y two super picky cats will eat! They turn their noses up to everything else. I just wish the cans were bigger or it was a little cheaper.

Texture is too pasty
My cats usually love stinky fish as a treat food but this was quite pasty and had chunks of tough shrimp in it. My one muggle actually gags when he eats it. It's also very expensive since it's the 3 oz can. I won't be reordering.

NEED LARGER SIZE!
My cats, and I have 3,love this product. Unfortunately, I would have to buy at least 4 cases per order to last until my next auto ship. I hope they can increase the size of the can to the 5.5 or so. Until then I have to find a different flavor, bummer. The product itself is great!!!!

Cats like the tuna but not the prawns.
My picky boy loves this but doesn't eat the prawns. My only complaint is that the standard 3 oz. can lids don't fit these cans.

Good find, good ingredients
We've got a seafood-fancier cat. We're glad to find this seafood dish with ingredients we approve of, and none we disapprove of. The prawns are quite generous. The slightly premium price is definitely worth it if kitty likes the food, and if it's a healthy food. There's too much unhealthy cat food out there, and we love our cat way too much to give him inferior foods.

Granted. Sum Fish-luvin' Cats Mite Go 4 This
When my cats saw this in their bowls, they looked stunned & regarded me like I had offered them (pardon the term) slop, as if to say "for hogs only, not us chaps." I knew when I opened the can, it wasn't going to be their kind of grub, but had to try it when I saw Health Extension listed on a website as one of the best cat food brands of 2018. Unless your cat(s) are easy to feed, I believe this content would be an unwise choice, one that I made because most of the other fish recipes feature chicken first & these cats are temperamental brats that rarely will eat poultry or fowl. The sauce (gravy-?) is very thick & rich. When pressed, an amiable member of Chewy's friendly Customer Service team told me the best sellers in this line are the chicken and turkey, so I will buy them first for my bright boy that has a broader taste in food.
