FAQ

Has Health Extension been affected by any pet food recalls?

No, our formulas have never had a single recall.

What is the difference between “chicken” meal and “chicken by-product” meal?

Chicken meal is a high quality concentrated protein source that contains muscle meat. By law it may not contain heads, feet or intestines. Chicken by-product meal contains a variety of chicken “parts” including heads, feet and intestines.

Why do you use garlic in certain formulas?

We add a trace of garlic to our canned dog food to increase palatability. While it is a member of the onion family, garlic does not contain a meaningful amount of disulfide and will not cause a dog to become ill.

Where are Health Extension foods made?

All Health Extension products are proudly made in the U.S.A.

What is the shelf life of Health Extension?

Health Extension dry foods have an expiration of 1 year from date of manufacture.

We are SO GLAD to find a can food our picky 4 pound poodle will eat. We had purchased a few to see which one we could get our little Nugget to eat. We mix with some chicken and he is happy to eat. The smell of the food smell Great, and the ingredients seem to be of good quality.

    Dogs love it!

    By on

My dogs love this food. I use it as a topper for their kibble. They used to leave kibble in the bowl with other toppers, not this one. The only gripe I have is I had a few dented cans, but it didn't kill them, lol .

    Dog Loves It

    By on

My 90 lb. golden doodle puppy is very picky, but he loves these entrees. Doesn't like the stews, but gobbles these up. I'm always pleased with Chewy. The customer service is excellent, I always receive exactly what I order in a timely manner, and the prices are less than in the stores.

    Dog with allergies

    By on

I have a dog with more allergies than the vet has ever seen. This is one of only 2 wet foods I have found that doesn't have a known allergen . So far it is going very well. I have been feeding both my dogs only this food for about 10 days. They both love it and no reactions so far. I would like to give Chewy a big thumbs up too. They spent a lot of time to find foods my dog could eat. Chewy also refunded the cost of my last shipment that he couldn't eat. Chewy had me donate the food he couldn't eat to local shelter!!!

    Good Product, but . . .

    By on

The product is good to excellent. It is relatively low on fat, which I feel is a good thing. Just why pet food makers think lots of fat is good for dogs is beyond me. A high fat diet is bad for humans. Even a high protein diet from animal sources is bad for humans, as cancer cells, which we all have, will be nourished by animal proteins, though not veggie protein sources. My main concern with dog food is that the animal sources will contain hormones, antibiotics, and other toxins fed to the animals. Many of these toxins are carcinogenic and may be behind the skyrocketing cancer rates in dogs and cats. I'm using very little meat and combining it with wholesome homemade veggie sources of pulses The product is good to excellent. It is relatively low on fat, which I feel is a good thing.
