I recently adopted our cat Jazzpurr from a shelter and he needed a monthly renewal for his heartworm medicine. He has zero issues eating this and will eat it like any other treat. He has had 2 doses so far and it's been A-Okay. I hope to continue to use this because it's adorable and our cat loves it I recently adopted our cat Jazzpurr from a shelter and he needed a monthly renewal for his heartworm medicine. I hope to continue to use this because it's adorable and our cat loves it and it keeps him safe. I think if your cat is a little bit more on the picky side though, they might not be into it. Luckily Jazzpurr doesn't care as long as he can eat it... which is bad and good at the same time lol … more

4 out of 4 cats refused to eat this no matter what favorite fishy food in which it was mixed.

My Favorite Cat Med
By CritterMama15 on Aug 27, 2020 Top 1000 Contributor
As someone with numerous health issues, I have to use oral medications on my pets whenever possible to limit my exposure to any residue. Heartgard has been the only oral heartworm medication my cats have tolerated without any side effects. To those who are having difficulty administering -- I take up their food the night before (they're normally free fed dry food with some wet food twice a day). The next morning, I cut the chew into tiny pieces with a knife and mix it in to a small amount of wet food. If any is left behind still, I add a small amount of wet food in intervals until it is all gone, then put their dry food back down. It works every time.

Works for most
By Bianca on Jun 2, 2020
One of our 11 outdoor cats was recently diagnosed with heartworm. My vet has never had a cat with this condition. It seems rare among cats but not unheard of. To protect her from more and the others from getting any, this product was our only solution. The majority of our cats ate it. Two ate part of it and we had to force the remaining pieces. Two refused and will unfortunately go unprotected. I wish there would be more options.

These work great but...
By Becky on Apr 26, 2020
These work great if your kitty will eat them. One of my cats will eat it without question. It is a 50/50 shot if my other cat will eat it that month.

Good product

Works for our cat, she is an outdoor cat. We also use frontline gold. The two together seem to be working very well.
