I ordered 2 cases of this only to be disappointed. The wild birds will NOT touch this. It contains more whole black sunflower seeds than suet; to the point where birds have to work around what little suet there is and leave behind the whole seed so they won't choke. I purchased the suet based on reviews and description of what it contained. What bird is not going to want PECANS in their suet?! To my disappointment (and the birds); the suet was OVERWHELMED with WHOLE BLACK SUNFLOWER SEEDS. IF there was any hint of PECAN; the birds most certainly were not convinced as they were looking at whole black sunflower seeds which could cause them to choke. Greatly disappointed after reading such positive reviews on what was supposed to be a QUALITY product.
Strange as it may sound, this product is almost TOO good!!! Birds love it, and I’ve noticed several new species around the feeder. (Squirrels are also thrilled.... not surprisingly). Be prepared, this suet cake will will be consumed faster than most others!
Purchased this because my nut and fruit blend bird mixes do not have any fruit or nuts in mix anymore! I I am not going to purchase the bird mix anymore . I was hesitant at first to purchase the suet because of the cost. I decided to chop up into small pieces and add to mealworms and spread out on the ground. I have been beyond pleased my quail, blue jays, warblers, wrens, roadrunners, thrashers all love this. Definitely will put on Auto ship. Thanks Chewy.
I put out 4 suet cakes a day, now that winter is in full swing, and they usually last till sunset. I recently tried these pecan cakes and they're only lasting 4 or 5 hours! I have northern flickers, red-bellied, downy and hairy woodpeckers all over them. Carolina wrens, bluejays and chickadees love it and I've even seen my ground feeders like the juncos and sparrows going in for a bite and they'll seldom get up on the hanging feeders! Everyone loves them, even the squirrels are trying to steal the suet cages so I had to zip tie them on! The squirrels have they're own feeders, peanuts, dried corn and suet nuggets. The fact that they're trying so hard to get these pecan cakes really says something! Thanks for a great product, I'll definitely be reordering!
I have a red bellied and red headed woodpecker that feed several times a day. They love this product.
