Are the holes larger enough for nuts such as whole peanuts?

The holes are large enough for peanuts as long as they are shelled.
Will this keep squirrels and big birds out of it?

While the Parkview is a midsize feeder we do not guarantee it will keep larger birds away. It would be more difficult for them to access. This feeder is not considered one that deters squirrels.

Nice looking/Poor eating design

This feeder is made well and is an attractive addition, but the design isn't the best for birds. The small area where the feed is available for the birds is too deep and narrow. Even small birds like chickadees struggle to get food. There is not enough room for the bird to reach the food.
