great results, hefty price tag
I purchased 4 bags to get 6 broilers to their processing date. I liked all the “buzz-worthy” attributes (organic, soy free, non-gmo), and I liked that the protein was only 18%. Broilers are built to grow, and I wanted something a smidge lower than the 20-22% I kept finding everywhere else to help curb my chances of losing them to super quick growth. They’ve grown steadily and are perfectly healthy! The one we already processed was in great health and had no signs of growing too quickly (and it was delicious). However, at full price that comes out to dang near $200 in feed for 6 chickens. I was extremely fortunate to find their “blue light” sale or whatever it was called (in response to prime day) and got them bogo. $100 for 6 chickens is much better. I can see paying $17 for an organic, non-gmo, soy free, farm raised chicken. It’s a great deal! I can’t see paying ~$35 though.
Had some sort of bug
I hadn't even opened this bad of food and my husband noticed some sort of white dots that were crawling all over the bag. Like millions of them! I have decided to switch to another brand of chicken feed. Not sure if it is due to the cheap food or the conditions it was kept in, but I dont trust it. I threw out the entire bag, and 1/2 of the precious bag I purchased.
This food was awful. I decided to try it out for my growouts. It is mostly powder. The crumbles aren’t big enough for growouts although it is advertised as a growout food. Mine won’t eat it and it is nothing but dust. I won’t buy it again. It was a waste of money. I had to go out and buy another bag of food.
I read in previous reviews that very young chicks have trouble eating this food. The crumble sizes vary in the food, so little chicks might not be able to eat some of the bigger particles. This is not a problem for my 6 week old chicks. They seem to love it, and I like the fact that it's organic and soy free.
Seems like a good product
There are several organic chick feeds on the market, and this organic feed has a lot of healthful variety to the ingredients. However, the crumbles are too large for new chicks and must be put in a blender. My chicks are three weeks old, with fully-feathered wings and tails, but I still need to grind this food up for them. I am glad I got a "buy one, get one half off" because I wouldn't be willing to pay the full price.
