FAQ

Where do your herbs come from?

Our individual ingredients are sourced from China. Our herbs are sourced individually from specific providences of China because of optimal growing conditions (drainage to the soil, sun patterns, quality of the soil, etc.) For example, only the providence of Shanxi has grown astragalus for thousands of years because its conditions consistently provide the highest quality. However, each and every batch of herbs that we bring in to make our formulas is tested in the U.S. to ensure purity, authenticity, and safety.

What kind of safety measures do you take with your ingredients?

Each and every batch of herbs that we use to make our formulas is tested in the U.S. to ensure purity, authenticity, and safety. From the soil the herbs grow in to the finished bottles going out the door, we monitor every step of the process, using only proven, trustworthy suppliers, holding ourselves to the highest ethical standards and abiding by the most stringent testing and manufacturing guidelines in the world. To ensure that only the most authentic herbs go into Herbsmith herbal blends, all raw materials used in production are subjected to a battery of tests including Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC), a sophisticated means of identifying the makeup of individual substances in a given compound. This unique fingerprint confirms the chemical composition and authenticity of each and every herb we use and allows us to use only the most high - quality herbs available. The herbs next undergo High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), a test performed on all pharmaceuticals to confirm the consistency and concentration of the compound. This step assures that each herb is at its maximum potency and effectiveness.Further testing for moisture content, dissolution, heavy metals (lead, arsenic, mercury, cadmium) and microbial content are performed on every batch, including Aristolochic Acid and Chloramphenicol testing. When the products arrive in the United States for manufacturing, they are reviewed by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to further guarantee that every element that goes into Herbsmith herbal blends meets the absolute highest standards for purity and safety.

Great natural allergy remedy for fur babies!

    By on

I noticed a difference within the first couple of weeks of usage; my dogs weren’t itching/scratching near as much or rubbing their faces into the carpet to rub their irritated eyes! Kyle used to sneeze on a regular basis in the spring, summer and fall, and now I rarely ever hear him sneeze! This is a great natural puppy remedy for seasonal allergies!!!

Powder can easily be put into Gel Caps!

    By on

My dog refused to eat anything with this powder on it. I picked up some gel caps from a local health food store at a very reasonable price and filled them with the powder. These are given with wet dog food as a special treat. I have found this product to be effective in preventing allergy flare ups.

    Was Hoping It Would Help

    By on Top 500 Contributor

I bought this for my constantly itchy dog. The reviews were pretty good so I decided to buy it. He won't touch it, he smells the herbs and then turns and walks away.

    It's just magic

    By on

4 out of my 5 cats all had horrible seasonal allergies and I was trying everything. Someone told me about this stuff and it worked! They didn't mind it in their food like the other things I was trying. Defiantly would recommend!

    Didn't Work for My Dog

    By on Top 100 Contributor

I went through 1 bottle of the pill form, and two bottles of this powdered formula. I gave this to my dog religiously at the recommended dose and also tried giving more than that for a few weeks. I feel like we gave it a good shot, it just didn't work for us. I would recommend trying it, since it is a natural solution. I was hoping it would alleviate my dogs itchy feet, red runny eyes and itchy ears but unfortunately it did not. Back to square one we go.

    Not palatable

    By on

My pups are extremely picky eaters, so this is no surprise, but so far the pups are not finishing meals if I've mixed in the supplement. I started out with a very small amount, 1/4 of a teaspoon (my pups should be getting 1 tsp per meal), to try and prevent this. Since they won't eat it, I haven't been able to evaluate it's effectiveness on allergy symptoms. :/

    Chinese Herbal Help for Allergies

    By on

I used this product in the tablet form when our Golden was a puppy, and it worked better than Benadryl. Our Vet recently took him off Apoquel, so I thought I would try it again. I bought the powder the second time, but our Golden hates it. Usually, he gulps down his food; but when I added the Herbsmith AllerQi powder, he just pushed his food around in the bowl and ate extremely slow. If you can figure out how to cover up the taste of it, it's a good product.
