My 100lbs+ European Doberman pulls like a Mother Trucker! He also has a little bit reactive to other dogs. I used a Halti head collar on him when he was a puppy, which did work, but now he is 2 and pulls like no other on the head collar and which makes it feel like your arm is going to fall off. I wish I had bought a prong from the beginning. He walks like a true gentleman with a prong. Don't listen to the people who say that these are cruel. If used correctly, they are a wonderful training tool. My walks with my boy have been so peaceful now and more enjoyable. Seriously, buy one. They are magical ✨️
This is my first prong caller and my first experience with Herm Springer brand and so far so good my only gripe with the collar is there isn't a attachable or detachable piece you can buy it separately which is a little pricey I wish it came with one especially for the price as well as additional prong links I had to buy them separately and they were $20 for three that's very expensive that's the third the cost of the collar itself other than that it's smooth ceiling very good collar easy to put on no issues
I have a high prey driven dog that likes to pull on their leash a lot and gets over excited when they see other dogs or small animals. I’ve already been using the prong collar for a year and it’s great! FYI this does not stop your dog from pulling it gives you the tools to teach your dog not to pull. I can let my dog pull if they want to with the prong collar but I don’t allow it Also every time we pass by other dogs they behave very well! If they misbehave I give a quick pop and basically correct them
I was skeptical about this collar, I was afraid it would hurt him. He is a bernedoodle, 5 months old about 35#. He likes to lead when we walk, and he is strong. First time hubby took him for a walk was different as day and night. He walked right beside hubby and would nudge if he wanted to investigate something, rather than pull. Even when other animals were around. He never yelped like it hurt. And didn't shy away when we put it on him after that for walks.
Transformed walks into being bearable. Previously, our high strung Brittany would choke himself on the slip lead, to the point where people would look, or even vocalize, their disapproval. It is necessary to size and apply it properly, however. Watch Argos or Tom Davis YouTube videos for help. The only downside is that yes, the prongs may be difficult to squeeze during application/removal if you lack grip strength.
I thought this collar looked awful when I saw it but got it on a friend’s recommendation. I have to say my unruly sheepadoodle is quite a little gentleman now when I take him on walks! He was too strong for me before, pulling me down even, but he figured out that pulling is not a good idea now and he has even started sitting down beside the walkway and waiting for runners, bikers and even walkers with dogs to pass by. There is one dog in particular that still tries to get at but I can hold him back now and I couldn’t before. His veterinarian even said that it probably bothers me worse than it does him. He used to hide when I put his halter on but he comes willingly to get his collar on to go for walks!
I have purchased multiple collars for walking my dog and this has been the best. I used one at my sister-in-laws and did not have any issues. Normally my lab loves to pull or gets excited when a person comes by. This now keeps him from doing that. Very helpful and great training tool.
This is the best purchase I’ve ever made. My 10 month old puppy pulls so hard on her leash and no training has worked! I got this collar for her and at first it scared her. After several days of getting her used to it. She barely pulls at all anymore and is way more obedient on walks! Highly recommend
Was not a advocate of this type collar but a local trainer demonstrated it’s effectiveness without injury or pain and it’s a great device to reduce a pup’s tendency for pulling!
I accidently ordered a size too big for my pup but I already ripped the tags off to try and put it on my pup so I cant return it. I recently ordered the same model in a smaller size. I hear this brand is wonderful. So I'll see when it gets here.
