Higgins Protein Egg Food can be fed dry or moist. DRY - Sprinkle approximately 2 tablespoons (1oz) per bird of Protein Egg Food over your bird’s existing regular dry food or serve in a separate treat cup. MOIST – In a small cup, moisten approximately 2 tablespoons (1oz) per bird of Protein Egg Food with about a teaspoon of purified water or just enough to moisten the egg food. Feed in a separate treat cup. For added variety, you can mix in fresh, chopped, soft fruits or add Sunburst Leafy Greens & Herbs. Remove any uneaten food from your bird’s cage daily and discard.
While introducing a new food to your pet friend, gradually mix new food with your pet’s old diet. Increase the amount of food over a period of 7 to 10 days. This will allow your pet to adjust to the new food and it will prevent any upset to your pet’s digestive system.
My parakeet hates wet food. So fresh vegetables which they are supposed to eat he won't touch. I got him some dried greens he eats. Then I tried this partly because he moults a lot (vet thinks it's normal, healthy bird). He used to just sit on the perch and watch as I gave him his food. As soon as he sees me raise this bag, he comes running over. I can't believe he even recognized this from the greens bag! Anyway, I saw reviews how birds dislike it. I kind of wonder if those are the birds that are happy with fresh wet produce. But I can't get over how mine really loves this.
Birds love the egg protein and price is right. Chewy has great choices. Found a lot of products for all my pets and especially my birds.
I cannot get my birds to eat this. I guess they are picky.
Cockatiel not impressed. She is very finicky and did not care for these sprinkles
Gives me peace of mind knowing my conures are getting enough protein while they are laying eggs!
I thought i was ordering the larger size but its always a good price for the small amount thats needed. I usually get the next size up and lasts me a year for one canary during molting and egg laying times. She gets calcioum powder with stuff at those times too so she doesnt get egg bound. Shes getting old
My cockatiel loves scrambled eggs but he is not at all pleased with the dry version. I think thete is probably nothing wrong with the item , I just have a picky bird.
Bird seems to like it sprinkled on her seed. Hopefully she continues to like it and I can find it on sale again
I bought this for my female birds as they were laying eggs, and I wanted to give them , some extra protein I thought maybe they would not like it but they ate it up so it's a good treat for them
i have 6 cockatiels, 3 rescue doves, a parrolet, a rescue parakeet, and a rescue yorkie. since i have added these dried eggs to my bird’s seeds they have been so much more content and molting more productive and less bothersome. my silkie dove is actually filling out and hardly bald at all!!
