Higgins Protein Egg Food can be fed dry or moist. DRY - Sprinkle approximately 2 tablespoons (1oz) per bird of Protein Egg Food over your bird’s existing regular dry food or serve in a separate treat cup. MOIST – In a small cup, moisten approximately 2 tablespoons (1oz) per bird of Protein Egg Food with about a teaspoon of purified water or just enough to moisten the egg food. Feed in a separate treat cup. For added variety, you can mix in fresh, chopped, soft fruits or add Sunburst Leafy Greens & Herbs. Remove any uneaten food from your bird’s cage daily and discard.
While introducing a new food to your pet friend, gradually mix new food with your pet’s old diet. Increase the amount of food over a period of 7 to 10 days. This will allow your pet to adjust to the new food and it will prevent any upset to your pet’s digestive system.

What the bug?
By Abirbof4 on Dec 10, 2020
The product at first glance looked honestly great, the scent wasn't bad at all when first opening it. But unfortunately, when I was placing the food in a new tray(for storage purposes) I found a red bug, it kinda looked like a tick. I'm not sure if it was just my product, but I definitely don't recommend it as of now.

Loved by my small & large birds--serve separately as a treat
By Wheek on Jul 22, 2020
Since this is really not conductive to sprinkling over a bird's food, as suggested, I have put this in the cage cups of my conure and cockatiel, each going after a daily replacement. I really did not think my African Grey would take to this, as the granules are quite small. Was I ever wrong! The Grey, I'm sure, wondered why I withheld something so good from her for so long, just assuming the smaller birds would like it. She, like the other birds, eagerly await the daily refill of it, choosing it over their seed/pellet mixes they get as well. One does have to check on the consumption of it, as the birds work their way through it, leaving little bits of the egg food breakdown behind. This is far and away much better than sprinkling it over the food, and the protein addition is so healthy to all the birds. … more

High protein supplement
By Caitlin on Sep 10, 2020
Really nice product. Very palatable. Stores nicely. When my 10 Yr old diamond dove was starting to look like it was the end of the line, I searched for online options (having failed to find anything at my local feed stores). I added this and liquid vitamins to his regimen, and he's doing fabulous!

Healthy option
By Lexie on Aug 16, 2020
I love this item, but I wish there was more in the package. It’s an excellent supplement to stir in your birds food! My birds don’t notice it in the food but they seem to eat it all
