great addition for quarantine!
This was very helpful in setting up my quarantine tank. I already had everything except a heater and filter so buying this filter helped a lot. It was one of the only ones I could find the would work for my small quarantine tank. Works perfectly and you can use it in different ways. I used it as a bubbler. Keep in mind it doesn’t come with the pump or the tubing but that wasn’t too much of a problem considering there’s different ways you can use this. We also now have babies in the tank and there’s no worries of them being sucked into a filter
Best filter I've used
This filter is amazing! I've had it for a few months in my goldfish tank and it keeps the water clear and parameters in check. The price is unbeatable. Cheap but does the work of a $60 dollar filter.
Worked just fine
Filter work as expected. Happy with the right amount of bubbles. Not to strong just right to not scare the fish.
Prefect clean water finally.
I kept buying power filters that just stopped working after a couple weeks. I have gold fish which are dirty fish but this is keeping the tank crystal clear. It's only drawback is that it's ugly. Dead fish are a whole lot uglier so it's more than a fair trade. The best part is price. Even with having to buy an air pump it's cheaper than the power filters.
I read the instructions and soaked it in the tank for a bit. Squeezed it and had no problem sank right to the bottom. My fish seem to like it, I also have a HOB filter on my 60 gallon tank with live plants
Lots of bubbles
This filter does sink, but it may take some time for it to really soak up the water. It has to be held down for a while until then. This is great for a 10 gallon with snails or other invertebrates. Might be too much flow for small fish.
Not the greatest but is what it says
Yes it is a sponge filter but doesn't have a internal air stone and not a one where you can add your own with out a lil bit of modification. The air movement without a air stone is kinda a joke I thought my air pump was broken at first
hikari bacto surge filter
this filter is great if you are thinking about buying this please do
Not good at all
Base is not weighted and the sponge just floats to the top. It needs either a weighted base or something to anchor it to the tank. For the price you can get better like Seapora.
perfect for tubbing
These are the perfect size for tubbing baby axolotls.
