How long can the Hill's C/D wet dog food be refrigerated once opened before it needs to be eaten?
Answer by ChewyOct 28, 2017
Storing leftover canned food in the refrigerator keeps it safe to eat for three to four days.

I have a lab brittney Spanish mix with one large bladder stone. This is the first one she’s had and she is going to be 4 in a few months. She is around 45 pounds. Does she need to be on this diet the rest of her life?
Answer by ChewyOct 05, 2018
Due to your pet's diagnosed condition, we encourage consulting your Veterinarian to see how long they recommend feeding this diet. Each pet's condition can vary and the vet will be able to monitor them and give the best recommendations according to your pet's tested levels.

Always smashed and dented

My dog is on the prescription food for a medical issue. I always order from Chewy. Several times cans come dented and I still use them. Unless they are dented alot then I can't. My last order came came and 7 cans put of 12 are dented and smashed so bad the dog food is leaking out of them making it unsafe to feed my dog. I'm very disappointed lately with my deliveries. My dog has to be on the prescription food. And it's not cheap. Only to have it delivered in dented cans. I then have to go to my vet to buy more cans because I can't use the ones Chewy delivered!

Rx food from Chewy

One of my dogs is currently required to eat a prescription diet. It's been very difficult to get hee to eat this food, which has required me to order a variety to see what she will tolerate, and it's all I can do to hold off a hunger strike. That being said, I greatly appreciate Chewy's assistance throughout, including the swiftness with which prescriptions are verified and food is shipped. This is obviously more a review of Chewy customer service rather than of my order. As for the food, I trust that it works as prescribed. I just don't know how to get my dog to agree to eat it, no matter the brand.

So far quality is good

The recent orders have had some of the cans where the food inside didn't have much of the sauce that usually is inside each can. It was almost as if the food had been frozen. If I see one of those cans in the current order, maybe I could take a picture of and it and show you.

smaller cans

Have a small dog and this food is expensive. Been buying 12.5 cans and have to throw half away because after a couple of days she will not eat it. Now I buy the 5.5 can and wish you had it in the chicken flavor also. Just found out about the small cans last month.

Effective

My Dog have bladder stones and while on medication she had blockage and was not able to urinate I brought her to ER and they were able to unblocked her using cathether. And they send us home with this hill’s diet urinary cd and works wonder!! She can urinate with normal flow now and I noticed dark spots on her belly is getting lighter, she’s always itchy scratching a lot before but now no more itch! She’s on schedule to another check up soon to check if stones are dissolves.

Wonderful option

My older girl has kidney disease and we were given a type of k/d dog food to try that was a dense loaf and she really turned up her nose. I searched for alternative options and found this as well as same brand of Beef & Vegetable stew. It is like real food with gravy and she LOVES these!! So thankful to find these options!!

Great for Urinary care/Prevent UTIs

My vet prescribed this Hills Prescriptive Diet C/D for my dog after 3 UTI infections in one year - that was 3 years ago and she's been healthy ever since and she love the taste of this dog food too.

Hills C/D Urinary Tract Chicken Stew

My Cavalier Spaniel Rose, age 4 years had surgery Aug. 29th to remove these stones! The vet at North Gateway Animal hospital put her on this recipe to maintain a healthy bladder. She has always been particular with food, but not Hill's Science. She absolutely loves it. Her urine no longer has odor, she drinks more water and overall she is back to her playful self.

Hill’s prescription diet c/d canned dog food

It’s a great product if your dog has urinary problems, however it’s so expensive a lot of pet owners can not afford to purchase it. There needs to be a good product with a more reasonable price. We love our pets and want what’s best for them, but not everyone can afford Hill’s Prescription Diet.
