I have 3 cats, 1 with urinary tract issues due to stress. Is this food harmful to my other 2 cats that have no issues?
Answer by ChewyJan 04, 2018
We'd recommend consulting with your vet before all cats eat the same food for the best results.

What is regular CD food?
Answer by ChewyAug 15, 2017
The regular c/d food is for helping with urinary issues not brought on by stress, helps with the PH levels & dissolves the stones.

Why does this have corn? How is corn good for cats? Vet has recommended this for one of my cats, but I really don't feel good about the ingredients or the price.
Answer by ChewyOct 02, 2020
Corn, as an ingredient, serves as a highly digestible carbohydrate source, as well as a source of protein and vitamins.

Has this food help with cat stress for others? I am going on a trip in the next couple of weeks, and the last time I ventured off my male cat became ill. He has Urinary Crystal development. He's easily stressed-out with changes.

Picky cat switches quickly

My 12 year old cat would only ever eat one kind of the same brand of cat food for years. Because most dry food is sawdust, he developed urinary tract problems. I followed the bag directions and slowly increased the Hills over a few days. He likes it and eats it without a problem. The vet said the "shape" of the food, surprisingly, is what keeps them loyal. Luckily, in my case, the shape of Hills is the same shape as the sawdust brand. But it's probably also the quality of the ingredients.

Picky Kitty

Otis is 10 1/2 years old & has refused to eat anything other than original Iams kibble. He's a loving but nervous boy who doesn't adapt well to change. But the last few months he has lost weight & then he was unhappy in the litter box, no messes, he'd go in & out several times before his body would cooperate. The vet got blood & urine samples & I brought an enormous poop in but everything came back 100% Aok. She prescribed the Hill's Stress Care Diet to see if it would settle things down, even eating a little mixed with Iams might help. Fast forward - he is feeling better AND the transition to a new food was so easy, it still surprises me! I was skeptical the food would help but I was so wrong - Otis is his old self again - no problems & eating like a champ!

i wanted to give it more stars

I couldn't bring myself into giving this more stars. I bought this huge bag because my 4 year old has crystals in his urethra and it was a huge traumatic event- trying to figure out what food to give him has been really hard. The vet we have was of no help just precribing this. To my shock he eats it. So far no reoccurrence but i also followed the recommendations of changing his environment for a stress cause. He eats this!! Considering the ingredients is why i can't give this higher stars. It is absolutely morally abhorrent the manufacturers of this choose the ingredients they do for pets and charge these outlandish prices. Eventually i will get nutritional help to find a higher grade of food to feed him with the content he needs to manage his condition but inam grateful for now he does eat this. He completely rejected their wet food equivalent- (but once you see whats in those cans you get why.) The ingredients in this are less nutritional value then they could be especially for the cost- its about profits. Thats why i can't reward this brand with higher kudos. They really dont deserve anything but a.... Meh its only ok til i find something my cat deserves for long term. While this may satisfy a very mainstream ( and ccorporately loyal) vet, anyone who knows about whats actually IN pet food and their manufacturing practices wouldn't recommend this brand at all. The stars are because he eats it. I AM grateful.

It's changed in size and gone up in price!

We have three cats and have ordered this exact prescription food for well over a decade. The last two bags have surprised us with larger pieces! All three cats don't like it as well, and there's more waste from them shuffling it around and dropping bits when they break it up. Why did they change what worked????? We are very upset about this! Until a couple months ago, I'd have given it 5 stars.

Works!, Happy Cat

We took our cat to the vet and they recommended this special food. My cat had blood in his urine and excessive frequency. Within a week he’s on his way to feeling better. Urine clear. Plus, now he is way way way more relaxed. He has super sweet look on his face and is more interested in loving us. Urinary stress for a win!

Amazing Food

My cat has been on this food for over 2 years now since she started having stress related urinary tract infections. After a month in her system she’s never had any urinary issues and she loves it. Thank you Hill’s for the amazing cat food and Chewy for letting me get it delivered to my door rather than seeing my vet every month.

Awesome Food

Our cat Gypsy was sick constantly with urinary issues and countless vet visits. This food has definitely made her happier and since I have 7 cats, all eat this and have beautiful coats and the litter box smells better! Love my vet and this product, worth every dollar! Chewy thank you also!!!

So Helpful

I have a senior cat on Rx food for urinary issues. He is also a finicky eater and his tastes change often. What he gulps down happily at first becomes ho-hum for him later on, and mealtime becomes a chore. I have had to change my auto ship order several times. Each time I speak to a representative they are very understanding and helpful. Thanks Chewy!

Best Dry Cat Food Ever

The last two times my husband and I have traveled, our 3 year old female cat has gotten a urinary tract infection. The Vet said this is very unusual and thinks it is caused by stress. This food has worked wonderfully, and so far, no more UTIs. Another big plus is both cats love it (the male likes it better than his regular food, too).

Simba and Junior(the cats)

I used to vomit frequently and get UTI’s. Since our mom switched to this food, I haven’t had a UTI, and my vomiting is under control. Thank you Hills for making this product, and thank you Chewys for carrying this product.
