Questions & Answers

9 Customer Questions

Does the pate chicken dissolve stones similar to the stew chicken? The stew description states that it will dissolve the stones where as the description of the pate does not include that statement.
Answer by ChewyAug 30, 2022
This is formulated to help dissolve struvite stones and lower recurrence risk and lowers risk for formation and recurrence of calcium oxalate stones.

If my dog does not eat a whole can, do I need to put the remaining food in the refrigerator or can I cover and leave on counter for later?
Answer by ChewyJul 25, 2022
Your pet’s bowl should be emptied of moist or canned food not eaten by your cat or dog within 4 hours if the ambient temperature is above 50°F. Opened cans should be stored in the fridge, at temperatures between 40-45°F, for a maximum of 5-7 days. Any cat or dog food remaining after that time should be thrown out. The best way to store opened cans of cat or dog food is to use a plastic pet food lid that fits the top of the can to prevent moisture loss and transfer of odors. If a plastic lid is not available, plastic wrap also provides a very good moisture, air and odor barrier. Zip-to-close bags provide good moisture barriers but do not provide good oxygen and odor barriers.

Are the cans bpa free?
Answer by ChewyJul 05, 2022
The internal coating used in Hill's 2.8-ounce (85 gram) and 5.5-ounce (156 gram) cans does not contain BPA. Hill's produces large cans (13 ounces) in 2 manufacturing locations which have different can suppliers. Cans used in one location do currently contain BPA in the internal coating. A new coating has been identified from this can supplier that does not contain BPA. Cans from the second production location do not contain BPA in the internal coating. These cans will contain the letter "W" in the manufacturing date code.

How much sodium is in this canned food? Is there more sodium in this food than the canned k/d?
Answer by ChewyJan 06, 2022
The c/d Multicare Chicken Flavor Wet Dog Food contains approximately 0.29% sodium on a dry matter basis. The k/d with Chicken Wet Dog Food contains approximately 0.2% sodium on a dry matter basis.

I thought I was doing my fur baby good by feeding her fresh food. Chicken breast, brown rice and vegetables. WRONG !!! she ended up with massive bladder stones. After expensive surgery very put her on Hills Science U/C. Started her off with just the wet. After a few days mixed it with a little dry. Now I add 1 cup of dry to 2 cups of water. I leave it over night and the next day it is like the wet stuff. And she likes it.

Sadly my dog won’t eat this

I don’t think it’s any issue on the part of the food, my old dog is just picky. She won’t eat this. I have 8 cans left need to figure out what I do with them. The problem is I need to find a urinary care prescription food she will eat.

Great for Urinary Care/Prevent UTIs

My vet prescribed this Hills Prescriptive Diet C/D for my dog after 3 UTI infections in one year - that was 3 years ago and she's been healthy ever since and she love the taste of this dog food too.

Solid Dog Food

My dog only ate this once. It is hard as a rock in the can and hard to break up to feed my girl. She only ate it once and I went back to the vet and exchanged it for the stew form of this food and she loves that!

Urinary CD

The product was very fresh and they offered a coupon for a lower price so I'm glad I took advantage of the offer. Arrived quickly too!

Good food, good price.

I was concerned that my Sofia wouldn't like the food since she is so fussy but she loved it. Thank goodness because she has to have it to keep her healthy.

Dog doesn't really like it unless I mix it with something else. Going to try the chicken and veg next. Otherwise, it seems to be doing the job it was made for.

It seems to be working for our little fur baby

The dog food seems to be working well for our little fur baby... just wish it wasn't so expensive and that includes the dry dog food also...

First Experience with Hill's Prescription Diet

Rather dry paste like consistency. Had to mash it up and add water to mix with the dry food.

Suddenly we are in the middle of a medical crises with our dog, Tegan.

Diagnosis, bladder stones. The vet ordered special food for her and it was at our front door a day later.
