Questions & Answers

24 Customer Questions

I received a case of these from the pantry, but my cat is healthy. Can I still feed this to her? I don't want to let them go to waste.
Answer by ChewyJun 04, 2018
Since this is a prescription food formulated to meet specific diet restrictions from known health issues, this food should not be fed to any other animal than the one prescribed due to the restriction of specific nutrients. Prescription diets can be detrimental to an otherwise healthy pet if that pet doesn't have the ailment for which the food is designed.

Under feeding instructions what is meant by schedule 1 schedule 2 and schedule 3?
Answer by ChewyMay 13, 2020
It is recommended to select a feeding schedule based on the following patient criteria. Schedule 1: Cage Rest. Schedule 2: Surgery, Sepsis, Cancer, Trauma, Fever, Feline Hepatic Lipidosis. Schedule 3: Severe Burn, Injury or Head Trauma. Please consult with your vet to determine the correct feeding schedule for your pet.

Does anyone know the water percentage a can has in it?
Answer by ChewyJan 25, 2018
The moisture content in this food is 78-80%.

How long can this be refridgerated after opening?
Answer by ChewyMar 23, 2021
Your pet’s bowl should be emptied of moist or canned food not eaten by your cat or dog within 4 hours if the ambient temperature is above 50°F. Opened cans should be stored in the fridge, at temperatures between 40-45°F, for a maximum of 5-7 days. Any cat or dog food remaining after that time should be thrown out.

Amazing results

My 17 year old Ragdoll had almost stopped eating. He lost so much weight I thought I would lose him. He went from 16lbs to 6. On day one he couldn’t get enough of this food. He continues to gain weight and improve. This food saved his life.

Perfect for sick ferrets!

This food is perfect to give sick or post-surgery ferrets! I warm about 1/5 can three times a day and add a tiny bit of water to make a thick gravy consistency. They love it and it helps put on weight. Expensive but worth it! Chewy customer service was sooo helpful in getting this order to me FAST, contacting my vet for approval and shipping quickly!

My cat betrayed me

So I got a can to test from my vet, my cat ate it with no issues. So I ordered a 24 pack, not sure what happened but she doesn't want it. To my perspective, the Pate is just watery so I think the consistency is just gross for my cat. Anyway, I don't know if I can recommend this; What I can recommend is to get 3 cans, if they eat all 3, you are gold. I'll stick to Royal Canin, their pate has more consistency.

OUTSTANDING

Customer service is above and beyond any expectation. When my fur baby had to change foods to Urgent Care, Chewy had the replacement at my front door the next day. This is the third time Chewy has assisted me in matters that had to be altered. Keep up the good work CHEWY.

Nursed back to health

My cat was sick and the vet prescribed this. We force fed her this with a syringe because she would refuse to eat normally and was losing weight. Quickly, she started to feel more energy and we were able to her to eat by herself. The food smells horrible for a human nose, but you get used to it.

I will continue to help kitties in need

my rescue feral kitty passed away last night due to complications. she had cat cold 2 weeks ago and we found her under the bush 1 week ago and took her in. she did not eat & drink x 7 days. she could not make it due to severe malnutrition ( she weighed 2 pounds max-she used to weigh approx 5 pounds. she was living in my yard). I am trying to say this prescription food is excellent, I used it for my indoor cat. but I am so saddened that this poor little thing did not have a chance to get stronger.. she has no more suffering in heaven! rest in peace, my feral kitty Munchkin.

Cat does not like

The vet prescribed this food for my cat. She ate some of it in the beginning but now refuses to eat it. Expensive food that will go to waste now.
