Questions & Answers

24 Customer Questions

I received a case of these from the pantry, but my cat is healthy. Can I still feed this to her? I don't want to let them go to waste.
Answer by ChewyJun 04, 2018
Since this is a prescription food formulated to meet specific diet restrictions from known health issues, this food should not be fed to any other animal than the one prescribed due to the restriction of specific nutrients. Prescription diets can be detrimental to an otherwise healthy pet if that pet doesn't have the ailment for which the food is designed.

Under feeding instructions what is meant by schedule 1 schedule 2 and schedule 3?
Answer by ChewyMay 13, 2020
It is recommended to select a feeding schedule based on the following patient criteria. Schedule 1: Cage Rest. Schedule 2: Surgery, Sepsis, Cancer, Trauma, Fever, Feline Hepatic Lipidosis. Schedule 3: Severe Burn, Injury or Head Trauma. Please consult with your vet to determine the correct feeding schedule for your pet.

Does anyone know the water percentage a can has in it?
Answer by ChewyJan 25, 2018
The moisture content in this food is 78-80%.

How long can this be refridgerated after opening?
Answer by ChewyMar 23, 2021
Your pet’s bowl should be emptied of moist or canned food not eaten by your cat or dog within 4 hours if the ambient temperature is above 50°F. Opened cans should be stored in the fridge, at temperatures between 40-45°F, for a maximum of 5-7 days. Any cat or dog food remaining after that time should be thrown out.

last shipment was a bad batch

My young cat was prescribed a/d formula as she struggles gaining some healthy weight. She has been loving a/d food and most times cleans her plate. I even spoke to customer care the other day praising Hill's prescription diet and we spoke how happy we are that my baby is getting essential nourishment. Not sure why but this time the a/d 24 box shipment from Jul 21 and "Hill's Science Diet Adult Healthy Cuisine Roasted Chicken & Rice Medley Canned Cat Food, 2.8-oz, case of 24" from July 14th order turned out to be my cats least favorite, she smells the food and walks away. She had no appetite for food being served and survived on dry food only. I tried taking the food away for couple of days and reintroduced, with no success. I offered it to my other cat the one who loves eating and is hardly fussy, also took couple of nibbles and left the plate as is. I had to immediately order something new and ended up ordering wellness signature wet food. My baby started showing appetite. TBH i'm highly skeptical ordering it now.

Great product!

My vet prescribed this for our 12 year old cat who lost a lot of weight from hyperthyroidism. We needed to use a large syringe at first and an appetite stimulant for him in the beginning. Once feeling a little better, he started to eat on his own. He had no problem eating this food. Giving him lost nutrients and calories was very needed. This assisted greatly!

Hills Urgent Care

This item was recommended by our vet for our sick kitty. It's the only food she would eat for weeks, until she finally started eating a little regular wet food. We still add it to her food as a supplement. It's been a real life saver for our senior kitty.

Ridiculous Price but better than others

It looks awful, smells just as unappetizing, but why I prefer it for my "urgent" cats is consistency. Other high nutrient "urgent/critical" formulas are gritty and if you have a cat that needs to be syringe fed, you need something smooth and will easily draw into your syringe. Warm this up and stir vigorously and it can be done. The only one I have found that will do that.

Best Food for my Senior Cat

My vet's staff suggested this product for my picky 18 year old male cat. It's a little pricey but he's eating it and that's all that matters. He's up to almost a can a day. Yay!

Perfect for sick ferrets!

This food is perfect to give sick or post-surgery ferrets! I warm about 1/5 can three times a day and add a tiny bit of water to make a thick gravy consistency. They love it and it helps put on weight. Expensive but worth it! Chewy customer service was sooo helpful in getting this order to me FAST, contacting my vet for approval and shipping quickly!
