does this kibble cause my dog to drink more?
Answer by • Apr 07, 2018
It is not reported to cause excessive thirst. We do suggest talking to your vet if this is something occurring with your pet.
Is dd prescription dog food ok for dogs that tend to have bladder stones
Answer by • Jan 11, 2020
This Prescription Diet d/d recipe is not intended to help with bladder stones. The Prescription Diet c/d or k/d recipe would be a great alternative. We highly recommend consulting with your veterinarian to ensure which recipe is best for your pet.
My 5 year old female golden retriever is allergic to everything. We tried Royal Canin Ultamino but she would occasionally vomit that up and still get hot spots on her stomach. We tried other foods that were salmon and other proteins, but she would still get soft or watery stools. We even tried fresh food from companies like Farmer's Dog and Ollie and her stools were not consistent. She's been D/D Venison for about 10 days and the stools have been PERFECT. No skin reactions. No diarrhea. No vomiting. She begs for it for breakfast and dinner so no issues with the taste. I've been pairing this food with the Hypo Crunchy Dog Treats and once a week she gets a little ground bison as a treat when we make it for ourselves. Keeping her away from all other common proteins (i.e. chicken). The bag is a bit pricey but based on how much she eats (1000 calories/day), it should last me just over 5 weeks, so that's not bad.

Best Pet Store EVER
We are 100% Happy and satisfied with the products and the service from Chewy!
When our dog had difficulty with his food due to allergies, Chewy replaced it with a different product promptly!!! We also love the dog and cat toy choices. I enjoy buying surprise cat toys for our son's two cats.
Medicines are also very easy to order.
The best part, I can shop at home and the products come QUICKLY right to our front door!! My sister also shops CHEWY and loves it!!!

Great Food
My dog loves this food! I'm not sure that it's helped much with his allergies but he eats this more enthusiastically than I've ever seen him eat kibble before. That being said, it is a very expensive option and the allergy trial run that the vet has us doing doesn't seem to be making a difference. Overall high quality food and great if your dog has food allergies

great for sensitive skin
My dog's usual salmon-flavored Hill's Prescription Diet food was out of stock, so I purchased this instead. My dog loves the venison formula!

Chester will not eat this food.
I was hoping to give Chester a little variety in his food but he will only eat this if it is mixed with a wet food. I will not be buying this again and just stick to what was working in the past.

No fault if Hills Science Diet
My dog has been diagnosed with Irritable Bowel Disease and we are still going through trial diets. She only had a small amount of this food and it did not agree with her. We are currently on Hills Science Diet hydrolyzed dog food plus medicine. Chewy has been great understanding the food issues as prescription dog food is expensive. I wish I could donate this unused prescription dog food but being a prescription shelters are not able to use this.

The Best Food for Sensitive Dogs
My food-allergic Airedale has been on this food for about nine years. We obtained it through our vet. About four months ago, it became unavailable at the vet because of supply chain issues. With the veterinarian’s guidance, we tried two other foods. She began to have digestive issues which grew Increasingly serious—vomiting and diarrhea. Treatment with antibiotics (Metronidizole) did not help much; neither did switching her to a boiled rice and boiled chicken diet. About a month ago, I did an internet search, and found that it was available from a very few sources. Have now ordered twice from Chewy, and am thrilled. Her digestive issues have totally resolved, she is eating well, and has more energy. Thank you, Chewy!

Allergies are worse
My Shihpoo has black goop under his eyes. He hasn’t had that since he ate food with chicken years ago. Still itchy.
Also, he starts whining for food 3-4 hours before meal time. I think this food is so low in protein that he gets hungry too soon. I am tired of waking at 3 in the morning.
The photo is after cleaning eyes.
