Questions & Answers

8 Customer Questions

Does this food have the S+OX shield for urinary crystals in it? The bag I got from my vet has it but this one isn’t saying that it does.
Answer by ChewyOct 07, 2019
This recipe is formulated to promote a urinary environment that reduces the risk of developing struvite & calcium oxalate crystals. It does contain the S+OXSHIELD.

How long does it take to see an improvement in fur quality?
Answer by ChewyFeb 12, 2019
The duration until improvement is seen depends on the issues your pet is facing. Typically, it's a case by case basis. With food allergies, the issues can clear up pretty quickly, but each pet is different and it's best to have your veterinarian monitor your pets condition.

Could you please confirm the phosphorus percentage on a dry matter basis (last answered in 2018) as well as the DMB for protein?
Answer by ChewyAug 12, 2021
This recipe has a phosphorus content of 0.72% and a protein content of 34%, both on a dry matter basis.

What’s the difference between this product and z/d?
Answer by ChewyMay 10, 2021
Both recipes are designed to help with skin/food sensitivities. The Hill's Prescription Diet d/d has limited ingredient nutrition with single intact animal protein to help avoid common food allergies. It also has added fish oil to eliminate the need for supplementing with clinically proven antioxidants to support a healthy immune system. Due to both recipes being prescription only, we recommend consulting with your veterinary to see which one would fit your pet's needs best.

Vomit Galore

My cat developed an allergic skin reaction to normal cat food..so we switched to the old recipe of this cat food it was great for about 5 years then they CHANGED THE RECIPE and my cat would vomit this new recipe up at least once a day..even called them and they said the recipe wasn't charged much but it was enough where it was horrible for her tummy pleaseeee don't change a good thing! People depend on an unchanged cat food it it has worked for years... especially a prescription....

Smudge loves it

After suspecting a food sensitivity we tried this food and for the finickiest cat in the world to give it two paws up, I'd say that's a good endorsement.

Cat likes BUT...

My 13 yr. old kitty was vomiting and losing weight. Diagnosed with Inf.Bowel Disease. She also has crystaluria so this diet was prescribed as it is supposed to be safe for that. She likes it BUT ever since she has very soft stools, almost diarrhea. Before her stools were normal so I know it's the diet. May have to check out another Vet diet. Wondering if any other cats have the same side effect of loose stools.

Made may cat sicker

Bought this for my cats skin allergy and within the first 5 days he threw up twice and his breath is starting to stink. This food is terrible and a scam. Vets are recommending this because it only comes in huge expensive bags and then most of the cats don’t like it or it makes them sicker. Avoid at all costs

Nice size kibble

Our vet recommended this food for our 11 year old Persian cat. Great food, our Persian loves the kibble size. Would recommend.

D/d duck and pea

My cat can only eat a very low protein diet. She was eating can for the longest time. So I finally bought a bag of d/d for cat now I don’t have to be home so much because I can leave a open bowl for her to eat when ever she wants. I’m so happy.
