    Loves this food!

I was leery investing in this because I was told the "Heart Healthy" foods were bland and unappetizing.....However, my little Willow loves it. I feel good abut buying this product, especially knowing it is good for her heart.

    Extremely Low Quality

    By on

I pray for a different brand and more natural food for our dogs that need heart care. This is AWFUL. Mostly corn, even smells like corn. Made my dog drink unbelievable amounts of water. His thirst seemed to never end on this food.Texture is very dry, thick and clumpy. Ingredients are awful. I should've done more research before just giving it to my dog because it is currently the only heart care food that my vet was able to reccomend. I will never purchase again and I'm doing research now to feed a natural heart healthy diet. I recommend you DO NOT feed this food to your pets.

    Prescription nutrition

The switch over to this was a very easy transition. Dogs loved the taste, and didn't have the slightest hesitation in their brand. For years they ate a product which can only be described as the McDonalds of dog food. As our pets get older, they need more delicate care - including a better diet. This is a low salt, lower fat, healthy option - and even if it costs a little more, our furry kids are well worth it. It has a nice consistency, kind of like mashed potatoes. Soft, yet it crumbles, unlike cat food pate, which is more like play doh. The best part is that they didn't have any problem digesting this which can be common with small breeds as they change over to a new brand. Not ideal for heart problems

    By on

Love that there is no added salt, but there is sugar, which is just about as bad for fluid retention, among other things. Heart formulas need L-carnitine, , taurine, arginine, fish oil and CoQ10. This one does have the first two only. It is fairly low in protein and vitamins. I have to use supplements to get to recommended diet. My dog does like it, but I am wondering if it is because of the sugar.

I would recommend this brand if it is prescribed to your dog.

    By on

I was very pleased at how well my fourteen year old chow chow accepted this food. She was recently diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure and along with my worries came a new food prescription. She accepted the food very well and I mix it along with the dry food for Heart Care by the same company. This was a big deal since she always ate grain free lamb and rice. She does love this food and I would recommend it to others. I did obtain free samples from my vet for a pre-trial tasting before I ordered it from Chewy.

    Kids love it

    By on

I mix a little of this with the dry H/D for the two Heart issue dogs I have. They love it. Don't know if the heart issues have lessened, but they seem to be fine. Both are very skinny and hoping this will help keep them healthy for a long while.

    Canned dog food

    By on

Unfortunately my dog will not eat it. I bought it because Rocky had been diagnosed with congestive heart disease and I thought it might be healthier for him if I mix it with his dry food but he will not touch it and also unfortunately my chilweenie who will eat anything will not eat it. Looks like corn beef hash in the can.

    My Chihuahua Toto loved it

My Toto who has congestive heart failure, absolutely loved this food. It’s a relief because he didn’t like Royal Canine’s early Cardiac at all.
