Ordering from Chewy is so easy. Delivery is expedient and product has kept my elderly dog with congestive heart failure comfortable and still with me.

Dog whom eats everything wont eat it

I am giving 3 stars vs 1 only because I appreciate that a dog food exists to help dogs with heart conditions. However, it’s super expensive for something that doesn’t contain, in ingredients, anything more expensive then other foods nor does it require a different type of processing to manufacture to thereby warrant the extra expense. The high price makes it out of reach for some people who want to feed their ill pet the right food for his/her condition. It loses 1 more star because my little guy, who will eat just about anything, won’t eat it unless I mix it with something else. I’m glad it seems to be working for many other people. … more

Jack-Chi and Chi are NOT fans

    By on

Both of my pups have heart issues and need a low-salt diet. I bought this kibble and also the canned food that goes with it, but my dogs want NOTHING to do with it. They turned their noses up after trying one or two bites. I thought the canned food would make it more appetizing but they won't even eat that on it's own. They are not usually picky eaters. The kibbles are also made for a large dog and not my 10-lb chihuahuas.

    Elvis hated it!

    By on

Unfortunately my dog Elvis hated it. He turned his nose up to it every time and would not even nibble on it. I combined it with his previous food and he just hated it. I even made homemade gravy to try and cover up the food. He cleaned all the gravy and left the food. I was very disappointed due to the price tag of this food. It was a waste of $70.00.

    Not for small dogs

    By on

I have a yorkie and he refuses to eat this dry dog food. It is too big for him to chew. He is used to small bites! Now I am stuck with this big bag of food that he will not eat!!

    Heart Care

Skipper turn his nose up and will not touch the food unless you doctor it up. Kibble are way too large for a medium dog I had to crush them so he can try them. Sorry he really need a heart healthy diet.

    Tiny dog- huge kibble

    By on

My chihuahua has heart disease and was switched to h/d. These kernels are huge for such a little fella. After reading reviews I knew it would be but thought we could just crush it. What a pain this has been. Will not buy again. Please listen to the feedback and make smaller bites- we want our small dogs to benefit too.

    Yorkie won't eat it

    By on

Yorkie picked it out of his bowl every piece of science diet and placed it on the floor, the food nuggets we're twice the size of royal canine, which I was mixing in with the science diet to get him used to it, he just was not having any part of it ! All they had to purchase was the big bag so I'm out a considerable amount of money as well. And on to the next low sodium food to try ...

    Look at the ingredients!!!

    By on

My 1 1/2 year old sharpei bully mix had heart surgery about a month ago now. We were looking for a low sodium dog food with lots of vitamins and all natural ingredients. The vitamins, and low sodium are met with this product but I can't bring myself to buy it based on the ingredients. There isnt even any real chicken! It's all by-product.

This product is very hard and unflavorful.

    By on

My dog is 13 year old Lhasa Apso and has a heart murmur. He was prescribed the HD and I started him on the dry chicken 11 days ago. I know it is guaranteed, but I wanted to do what his vet ask. I have tried many different ways to get him to eat it without success. I add chicken & broth that I heat to make it softer and more flavor. He has lost weight because he will only eat a few bites and walks away. Hopefully he will decide that is his only food and start to like it better soon.
