You simply add it to your cart! At check out they will ask for your pets veterinarian, and then chewy gives them a call to confirm the vet has prescribed this particular diet.

New I/D Digestive Care Low Fat Original Flavor Pate is AWFUL!

I was not aware that Hill's had changed the formula when I recently reordered a case of this particular item. I knew something was off as soon as I opened it. It's much darker and has an extremely unpleasant smell. I have 2 chihuahuas and neither one will eat it. I feel like we have been misinformed Hill's by withholding the fact the formula has changed, i.e., nothing on the can stating "new formula", plus the can continues to say original flavor. The only reason I'm giving it 1 star is because there is no option for 0 star. I need nutritious food for my pups that have digestive issues that they won't turn their nose up to. If possible, I would like to return this and get my money back.

Meets vet's requirements for low-fat diet

My dog is being treated for pancreatitis and requires low-fat diet (1-3% fat). This food has helped our dog return to eating and drinking water. The original formula is the easiest to use to roll small balls of food and freeze them to use as treats. Yes, no real treats allowed at this time ! Will need to have ultrasound performed on him to verify diagnosis. Until then, gotta stick to this diet! Only downside is the cost of this food is very high!

Protein changes in this prescription dog food

I have a 15 yr schnauzer who was placed on this food a year ago, after having her gallbadder removed and a portion of her liver. She needs low fat food and normally is very food driven. She loved the original I/D low fat pate. After getting the new wet food delivered, she no longer likes this food. I was actually suprised the ingredients changed, as Chewy doesn't show the old vs the new ingredients. The new food now contains ground pecan shells (??) and they removed turkey liver and replaced with turkey giblets, they removed egg product and replaced with egg whites and they totally removed turkey hearts. This explains why the protein was reduced from 5% to 4% and the calories were reduced from 348kcal/can to 329kcal/can. My dog doesn't like these changes. I need to mix her wet food with the low fat kibble to get her to eat. Why would this company make such inferior changes to a prescription diet? Now I have to find new food that my dog will like and I will feel comfortable giving her.

My fur baby cannot eat this new formula

My 12 year-old Chihuahua mix was on the "old" formula of this food for about 6 or 7 years since being diagnosed with pancreatitis. No problems recently except for the occasional mild "episode". Hill's made the decision to add pre-and probiotics (biomes) to the new formula and my dog cannot eat it. I have spoken to 2 very nice reps with Hill's, all the guarantees in the world are no good if my dog cannot eat the food without getting sick. Not sure what I am going to do. She is on boiled chicken and rice right now and I am trying to mix in over a period of time the sensitive stomach and skin formula that seems to have almost the same low fat and protein as the prescription formula. I am sure that I am not the only pet parent having this problem, maybe if enough of us complain they will make the "old" formula as well as the "new" formula for dogs with sensitive stomachs. I somehow cannot see thousands of pet owners complaining that the prescription dog food their dog has been thriving on and doing beautifully suddenly needs "biomes". Why was this change made anyway?

Food She Eats

I have a constant battle with Pepper and her food. She stops eating most and isn't crazy about any. But, when we had to go to the hospital for her diarrhea, they prescribed this food. Figured it would be like all the rest, like it for a minute then not. But, she's been on it for 3 weeks and she gobbles it up rather than stretching it out all day. So fingers crossed. Her primary said she can stay on it for as long as she wants it. Only negative is the prescription required. That's a pain.

Beware! Formula change

I have been in contact with Hills company and let them know there have been multiple complaints about dogs having difficulty with the new formula, mine included! They act like they are unaware and if you look at the reviews for the same product on their website, they are all oddly positive. I would recommend calling Hills company and complain as I did if your dog is doing poorly on the new formula. I would not bother to write a bad review on their website because they will not post it.

Hill’s Gone sour?

Let me start by saying Chewy.com is great. And their customer service is excellent. But the last two cases I have received of Hill’s i/d Low Fat canned food smells sour and turns Gray almost as soon as you open it. I even went to my local vet and bought a few cans, they don’t look as bad, but they still smell sour. All of the cans/cases have expiration dates in 2024. If Hill’s changed the recipe, my yorkie doesn’t approve. My dog doesn’t want to eat it at all. Looking into new low fat food for my pancreatitis-prone yorkie-poo.

Great results with weight loss

Great for weight loss! After to many fat treats and the doctor reminds me of the weight gain every time we visit the doctor, so now we are managing his weight much better and he has lost enough weight that the Vet is satisfied with the progress.

Discolored Dog Food

Hill's Prescription Diet i/d Digestive Care Low Fat Original Flavor Pate Wet Dog Food. I ordered this food and when I opened the can the sides of the food touching the can were a dark gray. Chewy replaced the order and the same thing happened. I know Hill's changed the look of the label. They may have also changed the cans they use and that's the reason the food is tainted, or it could just be the food itself. I would give this food no star at all, but had to pick one in order to post. Chewy refunded my money.

Different Formula?/Gray in color/Not the same anymore

I ordered two cases as I usually do. The food in both now has a different label and the food is a different color. It's dark gray and looks spoiled. I went ahead and fed my dog a can and a day later, he isn't feeling very good. So disappointing. I rely on this specific flavor and formula for dog health, but I don't think it's safe anymore. I hope they go back to the way it was.
