Can a dog stay on his food long term or is it only for short term treatment of a specific condition?

This diet is suitable to be fed long term but usually not needed. However that can only be determined by your veterinarian.
I have a 6 year old Great Pyrenees that has been having loose stool and has Addison’s Disease. Would the canine I/d wet food help her bulk up her stool? She’s on prednisone 5mg daily and Rimadyl 100 mg twice daily for arthritis.
