The Hill's Prescription Diet k/d Kidney Care with Chicken Dry Dog Food is clinically proven nutrition that can help transform your pet’s life. As pets age, damage to the kidney tissues may occur, which affects the kidney’s role to function properly and filter toxins and waste from the blood. It is irreversible, and will lead to further loss of kidney function. This may also decrease their appetite, which could eventually result in the loss of muscle mass. And so the Hill’s nutritionists and veterinarians created this special diet, which supports your dog’s kidney function and helps to sustain muscle mass—in fact, the nutrition of k/d is clinically tested to improve and lengthen the quality of life.
Key Benefits- Protects vital kidney and heart function and supports the natural ability to build lean muscle daily.
- Enhanced Appetite Trigger (E.A.T.) technology helps increase the appetite and food intake.
- Made with controlled phosphorus and low sodium, plus therapeutic levels of l-carnitine and omega-3 fatty acids.
- Also includes high levels of essential amino acids, which are the building blocks of protein.
- Made in USA and clinically tested to improve and lengthen the quality of life.

Quality Kibble !
By juju on Dec 5, 2019
My dog has been on this food for over a year and his kidney values have been stable .. they haven’t gotten better but not worse . He’s a 10 year old Pit in early stages of kidney disease. He used to love this food once I got it but over time got very picky so I have to add wet food or pumpkin purée. My only complaint is why does the chicken flavor come in a 25 pound bag and not the others . My dog is over 100 pounds so I have to order the big bad .

New food for an old dog
By Cassie on Dec 4, 2019
My vet prescribed this food as my dog is in the early stages of kidney failure (14 year old lab). It seems to be helping, she loves the food and digests it easily. It does contain an appetite stimulant which she didn't need. She's very insistent that it's mealtime ALL THE TIME now! But I like that she has an appetite and eats every meal now.

My dog loves this kibble!
By Emmy on Dec 5, 2019
Fantastic customer service plus next day delivery! My dog loves this food and it was easy to switch over from her previous kibble. My vet highly recommended this food. My dog is a fifteen year old Jack Russell Terrier who is in wonderful shape for her age. We are doing preventative feeding to keep her kidneys healthy.

Helps my ailing dog
By Joanie on Nov 26, 2019
My dog’s vet prescribed this for my elderly dog with kidney disease. She transitioned to her new food well and shows evidence of improvement: increased vitality and less thirst. She also has adapted well to the new taste. Chewy obtained the prescription directly from my vet and delivered the product quickly.

no way eating dry food
By cactuspatchRon on Nov 30, 2019
my pooch use to eat dry food, but for some reason she switched from dry to moist (canned). it only takes one look and a sniff and she walks away from the food. again, good money spent on something she won't eat. same pooch with the kidney issue.

Vet Prescribed
By Breezie on Nov 2, 2019
I'm not sure how to respond. Lola is having a difficult time adjusting to this food. One day she likes it, the next no way. The smell and texture is excellent but something is missing as she is just not liking it. This is the 3rd vet prescribed. I think it's a combination of her meds and her taste buds that affect her taste.

She loves it!!!
By Lala on Oct 7, 2019
My 9 year old chihuahua yorkie mix loves this food. She’s a very picky eater so I was nervous introducing a new food. Her old kibble had two different nuggets. She would pick out the food and leave the smaller ones on the floor for the trash. I was afraid she would pick around these nuggets as well but nope she’s eating it!! I’m so happy. She has CHF and her meds are putting strain on her kidneys so she needs this diet change. Anything to help her!!

Dog loves it
By Lisa on Oct 6, 2019
My 4 1/2 year old dog was recently diagnosed with kidney disease and this was recommended by our Vet. My dog has only been eating it for a few weeks now but has loved it from day 1. So far so good. Her sister likes to lick her bowl after she is done so I am guessing it is appealing to her too but she has no kidney problems so I would never feed it to her. My only complaint is that it is so expensive but that is to be expected with prescription veterinary food.
