This was prescribed for Holly due to her ongoing UTI issues as well as being overweight. She actually likes this food, which is a huge surprise. We had been making her food ourselves with fresh meats and veggies but couldn’t seem to get the urinary tract issues under control. Hopefully this food will alleviate this problem as well as helping Holly drop excess weight.
This product was recommended to me for my dog who is extremely overweight and was not energetic for some time. Max is on this food exactly 10 days and already shows a big increase in energy, weight loss and is actually back to his "old" self although he is 8 years old. Great product and transition was a breeze.
I have a dachshund who is overweight. We finally were able to get a diet food that he will eat. It is hard on his teeth and they are darn hard to pound into smaller pieces for him, but I have succeeded. He likes it and he's a finicky eater so this is a marvelous thing for me. We've lost almost a pound and it's only been a few weeks so we're on our way. I would recommend this.
Our vet prescribed this after we did all the regular things to take some weight off our great Pyr mix. His ideal weight is around 105. I was skeptical but it works! He lost 30 lbs over 6-7 months just with this change. He’s not hungry he likes the taste. Instead of doing the maintenance dose (which became quite expensive) we now do 1/2 and 1/2 mix, this and the regular adult large breed science diet we feed our other large breed dog. If his weight starts to creep up we adjust the ratio. Back to a healthy weight for our now, right sized, big boy.
My Fur-Baby LOVES this Dry food as an alternative to his can Hill's Metabolic Food!! Tucker has diabetes and since I switched him over to this - per the recommendation of my trusty Veterinarian - his Blood Sugar results have seemed to level out, too. My crazy cat will even sneak her a piece or two when I am not looking!!
My doggie doctor recommended Honest Kitchen dehydrated grain free fish for my last dog. He loved it and I approved of it. This food I tried because it was recommended. I read the ingredients and I hate them and so did my dog. I hope you can get me the food I want! I'll call you
When my dogs gain a few pounds, I reduce the normal amount of kibble (Purina or Royal Canin) and add Hill's Metabolic. Works great.
My dog has been on this for just over a year now. His ideal weight is around 75 pounds and he had gotten up over 90, so his vet said he should go in this food. He is back under 80 pounds now. The bad news is that he can once again jump over the child gate we have to keep him out of part of the house. But he’s obviously feeling good. This food must taste good, because my other dog, who is not on a diet, tries to steal his instead of eating the regular (premium) dog food I feed him.
My golden retriever loves this food! Chicken is his favorite flavor. Small chunks and easy to chew. Hope it helps him to lose weight.
I have 2 same litter maltipoms 1 slightly over weight and one just right. Activity level’s different. My vet recommended this. The kibbles are larger than they are used to. Better for the 25 pounder and manageable for fir the 15. They really like it and their feces seems really healthy. New to food so can’t comment on weight loss yet but none on the one maintaining which was a concern.
