  • Mr. Bear loves 'em!

    By on

When vet prescribed a change in "krunchies" for our little Mr. Bear (a rescued fat-faced cuddly teddy bear of a Siamese) I was a little anxious that he wouldn't like them -- the cat, not the vet. However, I needn't have worried. Bear loves them! Only problem is that he is supposed to be limited to Not More Than One Cupful per 24 hours. Lordy! he would settle in that bag and eat his way from top to bottom. And that's the very LARGE bag! I have told him that the krunchies are for his teeth as much as for his tummy, and with that nod to vanity, he is trying his best to make one cupful last. Full disclosure: We do cheat a little. : o )

  • Kibble pieces too big

    By on

The vet recommended this product for my cat who has gingivitis. He is a rescue, and 2years old. I was shocked when I saw the size of the kibble and had to double check that I had not accidentally ordered the one for dogs. I gave him about 4 pieces, (used as a treat as recommended by vet) and he went to it right away and tried to eat a piece. He tried a few times and it kept falling out of his mouth. It is way too large to bite into. I cut it in half, but by that time he did not and DOES not want anything to do with it. So I am stuck with a $40.00 bag of dental food he won't eat. I was really hoping this would work.

  • Not a Hill's Science Diet fan

    By on

The only reason I tried the dental diet was because of my vet's suggestion to fix my cat's bad breath. I will say he likes it, but I will not buy this product again. It didn't help. Cats are carnivores and food that is loaded with carbs and grains cannot be good for them. If you look at the ingredients, the first few are poultry by product meal and the list goes down hill from there. I wish everyone would feed their cats grain free foods...allergies are reduced, itchiness goes away, and in some cases feline diabetes goes into remission. Please read the labels!

  • Trying to keep ahead of dental care

    By on

I would suggest that at your next Vet visit or before you discuss putting your cat(s) on a dental diet food in order to mimimize the need for dental cleanings which are getting more expensive these days. This product is great and not so hard that the cat(s) won't eat it. It's expensive, but well worth it.

  • Feeding Advice

    By on

The kibble in this cat food is large. It's purposely made that way to help clean your cat's teeth. When I first offered this to my cat she completely rejected it. I bit into a few kibbles to break them up and to see if they were tasty. I hate to admit that, but I needed to know if I was feeding her something she was never going to eat. It's really quite palatable. It tastes like chicken flavored garlic bread. After I broke the kibble up the first time with my teeth, she started eating it. Then I broke it up a couple more times with a pliers and she gobbled it up. I also feed her Fancy Feast, so it's pretty good that she gobbled up this kibble. She has never eaten kibble this enthusiastically. The kibble in this cat food is large. It's purposely made that way to help clean your cat's teeth. • Great for their teeth

    By on

I feed this as a treat since its so expensive & my cats eat a hairball dry food with wet food. My 5 year old has tooth resorption, so to help her teeth the vet suggested this food. They gobble it right up, 3 treats twice a day & it has made a big difference in their breath, will see at the next check up if it has helped with tarter buildup, I think it has!

  • Prescribed by Veterinarian

    By on

Hill's Dental Care Cat Food is recommended by my veterinarian. I have been unable to pay for teeth cleaning for my cats so it was recommended that I use a dental care cat food. Chewy allows me to receive the food at my doorstep. My cats are healthy and happy.

  • Dental Diet

    By on

My cats really love the taste & it seem to work. Both cats had their teeth cleaned a couple - 3 years ago & their teeth & gums still look clean & healthy. The best thing though is the auto ship feature. It’s always such a pain to go to the vet’s to pick up a new bag, if they even have it in stock. This way it just shows up at my door at pre-scheduled times. It’s the best thing since sliced bread!

  • Jo-Jo loves this.

    By on

My cat Jo-Jo eats the Dental Care Dry Cat Food as if it was a "treat". When I adopted him he had a little gum problem. My vet referred this treatment and the problem is improving day-by-day.

  • Vet recommended for cat gingivitis

    By on

My vet recommended this for our kitties to eat in addition to their wet/can food. They like it instantly and have not gotten tired of it (2 bags in). I hope this is making a difference in my cat's gingivitis, but won't know until the next vet visit - hopefully in a year.
