Dental care for your pet may be more important than you think. The accumulation of bacteria laden plaque above the gumline can lead to long term oral health issues. Recent studies have demonstrated there is an association between oral health issues and systemic more general health issues altering the kidney, heart and metabolic systems. Nutritionists and veterinarians have developed clinical nutrition especially formulated to keep your cat's teeth clean and help control the oral bacteria found in plaque.

Pets can be sensitive to sudden changes in their diets. For this reason, it is extremely important to follow a gradual transition plan to best support your pet's health and product effectiveness. It is recommended to follow at least a 7-day transition plan before exclusively feeding your pet a new food. Cats will often refuse mixed diets, so we recommend adding the new food to a separate bowl from the old food. Start by mixing 75% of your pet's current diet with 25% of the new diet on Day 1 and Day 2. On Day 3 and Day 4, mix 50% of the current diet with 50% of the new diet. On Day 5 and Day 6, mix 25% of the current diet with 75% of the new diet. On Day 7, you can feed your pet the new food exclusively. Ask your Veterinarian about the best way to transition your pet to a new food.

How do I order veterinary diets?
Search for the diet your veterinarian recommends and add it to your cart. You can purchase your veterinary diets along with any other items you need.
At Checkout, you'll be asked for your pet's name and veterinary clinic information so we can confirm that the item is authorized by your veterinarian.
Place your order and we'll take care of contacting your veterinarian. If you have a copy of your authorization, you can expedite the process by uploading a scan or photo of it to the Prescriptions section in your account or your order confirmation. You can also email it to vetdiet@chewy.com.
If your clinic needs more information from you or recommends a different diet, we'll let you know immediately.
I have a copy of the authorization from my veterinarian. Can I send it to you?
Yes. If you have a paper copy of your veterinarian's authorization, you can upload a scan or photo to the Prescriptions section in your account or your order confirmation. You can also email it to vetdiet@chewy.com.
Can I use a veterinarian's authorization if it was written by a veterinarian out of state?
Yes. We accept valid authorizations from anywhere in the United States, Canada, and U.S. territories such as Puerto Rico.
Why do I need a veterinarian's authorization?
Veterinary diets are formulated with the precise ingredients and nutrients needed to address specific medical issues. Because these diets are formulated for medical issues, veterinary authorization is needed to advise you on the best way to give them to your pet and to monitor your pet's health while they are on the diet.
Can someone else (such as a caretaker or family member) place an order for my pet?
Yes, but we'll need them to contact us and provide the full name of the pet's owner after the order is placed. This is so the veterinary clinic can locate your pet's records when we contact them. Email us at vetdiet@chewy.com or call us 24/7 at 1-800-672-4399.
Do authorizations expire?
Yes. Your veterinarian will tell us when your authorization expires and how many refills you have before they'd like you to check back in with them.
Can I set up automatic refills?
Yes. Sign up for Autoship at Checkout and select how often you need refills. We'll automatically ship your veterinary diets for as long as your authorization allows. If you run out of refills or your authorization expires, we'll automatically contact your veterinarian for a new authorization.
What if I have more questions? How can I reach the veterinary diets team at Chewy?
Email us at vetdiet@chewy.com, start a chat on Chewy.com, or call us anytime at 1-800-672-4399. We're here for you 24/7.

This is a prescription food formulated by Veterinarian to meet specific diet restrictions for known health issues.
My vet gave a sample ad a trwat to help me brush my cat's teeth. She comes running when she hears me open the door to get it!

cat loves it thankfully!
She’s had 7 teeth removed in 2 years and won’t let me brush her teeth. I was worried the kibble was too big for her mouth but she doesn’t mind it at all! I mix it with her other dry food and like someone else mentioned, she picks out all the t/d food first! I haven’t noticed any issues with her teeth (smells, sensitivity) since we started.

Hill's Dental Care T/D
Arrived very quickly, and both Miki and Mini love it! In fact, Mini is sitting on my lap begging right now. They're wonderful cats. All they do is hum and purr.

Great Cat Food
I have three felines and dental cleanings are expensive, so taking the advice of my vet and a sample of this food I offered it up to my picky felines. Amazingly, 2 of 3 loved it! The kibble size is large so I used the food as treats initially, but then moved to use this as their primary food as they aged.

Cats love it
Both cats eat this like they eat their treats. Since I have started feeding this to cats I no longer have to get their teeth cleaned.

They love it and I really only use it as "treat's" since one is diabetic and I don't want to spoil the other one and make them jealous. What we don't do for our fur babies :-)

delivery problem
Received the box which was totally ripped open, the packing tape was off....we have had several chewy packages stolen in our neighborhood this year...assuming someone opened it looking inside for items....they left the food however....not what they wanted I guess.
