Questions & Answers

8 Customer Questions

Could this be used as the daily meal and not just a treat?
Answer by ChewyNov 12, 2018
This product can be fed as a complete and balanced diet for your dog. Adjust feeding amounts as necessary to maintain optimal weight. If you are unsure, ask your veterinarian. For best results & safety practices: Gradually transition to your pets new food over a 7 day period. For maximum benefit, this product must be fed as the only food. Keep fresh water available at all times. Have your veterinarian monitor your pets condition.

What size are the bites?
Answer by ChewyMay 21, 2022
The kibbles in this formula measure approximately 28 millimeters long x 28 millimeters wide.

Why do I need a prescription for this food?
Answer by ChewyJul 31, 2019
The prescription foods are formulated to meet specific diet restrictions from known health issues. Due to this restriction of specific nutrients, a healthy pet wouldn't do well on this food. A prescription is required to ensure the pet has been looked at by a vet and prescribed the correct food for their condition.

How long will an unopened bag last?
Answer by ChewyJun 28, 2022
As long as it has been stored properly throughout it's shelf life, this food should remain fresh until the best before date listed on the individual package, even after it has been opened. Bags of dry food should be stored in a cool, dry environment under 100°F (38°C) to prevent destruction of vitamins and oxidation of fats leading to rancidity. Foods will retain their best flavor if stored in the original bag, which provides a fat barrier. Storage at temperatures of 120°F (48°C) for more than 48 hours can accelerate the normal degradation or destruction of the vitamins. Studies by Hill's packaging engineers have shown that storage in a variety of plastic containers (garbage cans, zip-to-close bags, garbage or kitchen bags, Rubbermaid containers, plastic pails, etc.) may impart an odor and taste to dry foods that adversely effects palatability. Zip-to-close bags, garbage and similar bags will also not prevent fat migration (e.g., fat will accumulate on the outside of the bag). Storage in clean metal containers (small metal tins, metal garbage cans, etc.) is acceptable. Storage in the original bag in a pet food container is ideal.

We have two of the fussiest dogs on the plant but they love these!! I hadn't found any other treat or chew that they will eat until my daughter brought these to the cabin one weekend for her dogs and they started eating them. Couldn't believe it. Finally something they needed and will actually eat!! Thank You!!

Great diet

As a retired veterinarian I used to sell this food a lot when I practiced. It really helped the teeth. Now I use it because my dog inhales her food and then vomits afterwards. The large pieces make it easy to measure and she has to chew it and eat slowly rather than eat fast, not chew and vomit.

Treats for healthy teeth

In our family/pack, we use Hills Science Diet food as a treat. The large size is perfect to throw to our large dogs to retrieve and chew on. Their teeth and gums are much healthier. They get a large kibbles after each of their two meals.

Beagle loves this!

My pup loves this food so much he scarfs it down without chewing it all, which probably makes it less effective, but his teeth are staying clean longer.

Excellent products & Delivery

Just ordered the Dental care TD chews for my Aussie. Received it in excellent packaging and great timing as well. My Aussie has been using these for a dental issue he had after we adopted him and discovered he needed extensive dental work. These chews work so well for his tartar as well as his previous bad breath. Both of which are now are under control with these chews and limited tooth brushing as opposed to daily brushing he used to need. Great product.

Check careful before order

The pups love this and I’m hoping it helps with their dental issues. Just be careful when you order as I didn’t realize there must be large and small bites. I’m having to break large bites up with a hammer to feed my mini schnauzer.

Fussy dog loved this food!

I am thrilled that my fussy Sheltie loves this food! I was concerned as the pieces look large but she had no problem chewing them.

tear stain and does not work

we do dental cleaning on our dogs every other year, I put both my dogs on this diet hoping that I can skip dental cleaning, however after 1 year on this diet, I didnt see any improvement, plaque came back just as he was on regular dry food, and one of his eye has very dark tear stain, now I decided to switch him off back to his regular food

Dog loves it but causes tear stain...

My vet recommended this for my Bichon to help clean his back teeth. He loves the food but it is causing tear stains. We had just gotten his diet adjusted to where his staining was minimal. With the t/d, the tear stains are just as bad as they were before.
