Transition to Science Diet Youthful Vitality

How to Transition to Science Diet Youthful Vitality

When changing your pet's food, a gradual transition can help minimize digestive issues and encourage acceptance of the new food.

  1. Start the process by mixing the current food with a little bit of the new food.

  2. Gradually decrease the amount of the current food while increasing the amount of the new food.

  3. Continue this over a 7-day period. Pets who are finicky, older or have specific health issues may take 10-14 days to fully transition.

Watch for the TELL TAIL Signs of Aging

Compared to people, dogs age at an accelerated rate. So even though 7 might not seem very old, at that age, your pet may begin to experience some major health problems. Because aging happens gradually over time, it may not be immediately apparent that your dog is starting to show some age-related changes. If you recognize any of these signs, consult with your vet to get some advice about whether you should switch your dog's food.

  • THINKING: Your pet is now confused by ordinary things, like how to find his bed.

  • ACTIVITY: Naps have become more appealing than playing or exploring.

  • INTERACTIONS: Your pet doesn't socialize with you as much as before.

  • LOSS OF CONTROL: Your pet is well-trained, but has started having accidents.

  • SLEEP-WAKE CYCLE: Sleeping patterns have changed, with more awake time during the night.

    Not a Happy Chewer

    By on

I bought this for my older dog after she demolished the trial bag from her vet. But when this bag came, she wouldn’t touch her food at all. I mixed it with a fruit & veggie purée that I’ve used before to get her to eat, but she will not eat it. Sad to say money wasted, but the product itself is great, I’m not sure why Bella isn’t eating it after I purchased it from Chewy.

the most amazing dog food for our old girl

    By on

We have a 10 year old 7lb long haired Chihuahua and I've searched for years to find the perfect dog food that she will actually eat. We've been feeding this for several months and our once anti social, stay under the bed girl gets the zoomies again, has gained some weight, but isn't fat and has a beautiful silky coat.

    My Senior Girls

I have 2 little girls. The Mini Schnauzer is 14 and the Chihuahua is 10. They are doing fabulous on this food. Seems to have put a bit more pep in their step.

    Good for Oliver

He thinks it’s just ok. I mix it with canned for him but sometimes he eats the soft and spits out the hard!

Our doggies don't eat too much of this at one time, and seem quite full afterwards and they definitely love it

    So happy With Youthful Vitality

    By on

Before I started feeding Youthful Vitality Sawyer and Jasmine were doing well on what I thought was a very good food. Not knocking it at all, but after 1 bag of Youthful Vitality, both of my mature dogs are doing so much better. The most amazing results were with my 11 year old King Charles Cavalier, Sawyer. Sawyer suffers from arthritis in all four legs and I would have to lift him up and down from the couch and the bed. Since he has been on Youthful Vitality, he is jumping up and down, from both, pain free. Squirrels again fear him, and as far as Jasmine, my 10 year old Schnauzer is concerned, there is not enough hours in the day to play. YouthfulVitality

    By on

The name of this product says it all. I have a rescue dog that they think is somewhere between 8-10 years of age. He is a Pomeranian or a German Spitz. When I got him he slept a lot. I've tried several types of different dog foods and he eats them only when he has to eat. But this Youthful Vitality has made a big difference in his behavior. He acts like a puppy! he is alert, loves to walk, is playful and seems very happy.

    Perfect for my pups!

    By on

I think this is relatively a new product by Hills and it's perfect for my two dogs! They seem to really like it and I like that it's chicken and rice - rather than another grain.

THE ONLY DRY FOOD SHE HAS EVER EATEN

    By on

She is a very picky Coton and her name is appropriate, Scarlett O'Hara. She is 10 years old and I have had to mix something always for her to eat dry food. And she has always had top of the line dog food. Not this time, to my surprise, she really went after it.
