SMALL bites
I like ordering larger bags of food, so I was happy to discover that this small bites food has the same kibble size of the Perfect Weight food geared towards small dogs. My two 9lb dogs love this, the kibbles are the perfect size for them (small pea-sized). This food has added fiber to help keep them feeling full and their poop is easy to pick up :) They are staying an ideal weight (ok, maybe still a pound to lose) using the same amount of 'regular' food that was causing them to be overweight. Very happy to have found this food!
Sadly, a No.
My beloved Bruno ( a shih tzu) needs to lose a few pounds. My Vet recommended this product and also the Wet Food. The look on Bruno’s face is heartbreaking when I try to feed this to him. He will indeed lose weight because he refuses to eat this. After several try’s we are searching for another healthy alternate.
Great size kibble for small dogs
My two Havaneses live this food! It is small enough for my 10 pound dog and my 22 pound dog needs it for the weight control.

Ducky was a 35 lb mutt when we adopted her. She was eating a cheap brand of kibble the first 2 years we had her in our home. Little did we know, it was causing her some serious health issues due to rapid weight gain. Ducky soon began limping so we asked about it at her annual checkup. She weighed in at 51 lbs! She had trouble with her hind knees and needed to drop the extra weight. When the vet suggested this dog food, I was skeptical. Buying such costly food is a waste of money if she won’t eat it! So we started out with a small bag. Now Hills Science Diet is all we feed her, because of the results. Ducky’s weight dropped fast and she gobbles it right down! Even my daughters dog, Susie now searches for Ducky’s left overs when she comes to visit. So my daughter ordered it for Susie too! Chewy gets it to us in 2-3 days. THANK YOU CHEWY!
Works Great!
We started our slightly overweight dog on Hill's Science Diet Perfect Weight and within 3 months she was down 5 pounds (she now weighs 19lbs)! The vet says she is looking really healthy so we now keep her on the product to maintain her weight.
Perfect dog food
This is an excellent choice for dogs needing to loose weight. The ingredients are top quality, low on fat and the kibble size is tiny for small dogs. My dog loves the taste and eats it all up. It is definitely not the cheapest dry food, but my dog is worth it

shiny coat and down a dress size
My dog has slimmed down from this food. I noticed her coat has gotten really nice since switching to Hills. I tried the “light” Hills dry food and my dog didn’t like the taste compared to this one. She can fit nicely into her old dress again lol. Remember to account for treats. The weight loss feeding guidelines are assuming you are only feeding kibble and nothing else. It recommends 1 cup for my dog but really she needed 3/4 because she gets a little wet food, treats etc.
Picky beagle approved!
My beagle is the pickiest eater of any dog I have ever met. It has been awful trying to find a kibble she will eat. She was eating the Royal Canin Beagle food until we couldn’t get it anymore. After trying several different foods, she shockingly LOVES this food. As a “diet” food, I was so surprised. Highly recommended.
