Description

Himalayan Dog Chew is a very hard chew. Although cheese, it is sometimes popularly referred to as Concrete, Glass, Wood and Metal. Depending on the size and eating habits of the dog, this is a very long-lasting dog chew. Dogs must work the end of the treat for hours, softening it with their mouths before small parts of it can be slowly scraped off.

Himalayan Dog Chew is 100% natural with no preservatives. It is an authentic type of cheese eaten by the people of the Himalayas. When you give this chew to your dog, you know that you are providing them with hours of high quality eating entertainment.

Key Benefits

  • Made from 100% yak and cow milk, salt, and lime juice, and takes hours of chewing to soften it enough to scrape a tasty bite off
  • All-natural treat, no binding agents, and is grain & gluten free
  • Great for removing plaque and promoting oral health
  • Low odor and non-staining
  • Fully digestible and a healthy treat

  • 3 Dogs Love It!

    By on

Two of our 3 dogs absolutely love it and will immediately begin chewing it. These two dogs are chewers and will spend half the day trying to eat it all up in one sitting! This keeps the Rottweiler puppy focused, much like a favorite toy for a child. It is very hard and great for teething puppies. Our third dog (in pic), likes to take her time. I give it 5 stars for quality and durability. The picture shows the average size of the product. They vary in shapes and size because they are sold by weight. This brand does not put any starch or filler in this product.

  • Last much longer than I thought.

I have 2 huge Newfoundland's and they chew on these jumbo chews for hours and only get the corners chewed up at first, then I take it away cuz they are usually tired after a few hours of chewing then I give it back to them a few days later. They chew it down a little more till their tired again and we do that until there is just a small piece left that I make sure they can't choke on and then they just finish chewing it up. It takes my Newfie's a few weeks cuz I give them a break in between chew times. It does leave very hard somewhat prickly little crumbs that can be a bit of a pain if you step on them with bare feet or if you have just socks on if my Newfie's didn't get every last crumb, which I have 2 huge Newfoundland's and they chew on these jumbo chews for hours and only get the corners chewed up at first, then I take it away cuz they are usually tired after a few hours of chewing then I give it back to them a few days later. As always I still recommend you keep an eye on your pets when they are in chew mode. I have not had the choking or gaging issues with these Himalayan Dog chews that I've had with Rawhide so far but still watch your pets. … more

  • dog likes it, doesn't LOVE it

    By on

The dogs used to chew these himalayan chews all the time, but we took a break bc they were so expensive before. They seem to be cheaper now, but my dog is not as interested in them (new recipe, maybe?). When I gave it to them, they took it, but did not chew on it. One of my dogs only picks it up when he's really bored and feels like chewing. On the plus side, because it is so hard and the large side is awkwardly big for him chi/corgi mouth - it has noticeably removed plaque from his teeth.

  • Only part of the chew toy

    By on

These were originally sold as part of a chew toy with the chew used as an insert. It worked really well - the chew lasted a really long time because the dog could not get a complete bite on it. I have a 75 lb GoldenDoodle who absolutely loves these, but I am having a hard time finding one to fit into the toy. Hopefully if I try these, I will know if they will fit the toy & if the recipe was changed which would make them softer which several reviewers seemed to think had happened.

  • Cat Nip for Dogs

    By on

My bullmastiff puppy absolutely loves these natural dog treats. He will chew on it for as long as we give it to him. The treat lasts a LONG time. He has been working on the XL size for over 2 weeks. It is the only thing we can give him to ignore us when we are eating food. He loves it! We have not noticed any negative side effect from him chewing on this treat (digestive wise). When a part breaks off, you can heat it up in the microwave for a nice soft treat.

  • Not as good as they used to be

    By on

The company recently changed their formula (in addition to the packaging) and these treats don't seem to be as hard as they used to be. As a result, my 1 y/o bulldog can polish one off after an hour or so of continuous chewing when it used to take him a few days. I'll keep buying them because they're natural and they don't get soft (like bully sticks or pig ears) and he doesn't try to swallow them whole. I don't talk them up to other dog owners like I used to which is why I gave them 3 stars instead of the 5 they would've been. (Side note: you can even tell the difference in consistency when you microwave the last bit.)

  • Fantastic dog chew

    By on

I have been buying these chews for a few months now and they last! We have transitioned our Aussie from bully sticks to these since he destroys bully sticks rather quickly. My only complaint is sometimes when he drops them they break in half. When this happens I usually worry he will swallow so I take them away. I would highly recommend these bones to any big chewers.

  • One dog likes it, other won't touch it

    By on

Bought this for my doberman who loves to chew. She won't touch it! My roommate's dog, on the other hand, LOVES this thing. It lasts a long time for him, considering he devours bully sticks and rawhides in a matter of minutes. If your dog will chew it, I think they are great- however, they are pretty expensive to try if your dog ends up ignoring it!

  • Pretty good chew for a large dog (150 lbs)

    By on

I have a male Saint Bernard weighing about 150 that loves his bones. He can go through a rawhide in no time however so I was curious to see how long these would last. Even with the biggest size in two chew sessions of about 45 minutes he was able to get it down small enough to where it would fit entirely in his jaw and we would have to take it away. It's a shame because he absolutely loved chewing on it! Even more so that a fresh bone or a rawhide. I don't think I'll order again because of the price and the fact that the biggest size is barely big enough for my dog - get a bigger size and maybe I'll change my mind.

  • pork chop approved

    By on

Pork chop wasn't too sure about it at first but once he started chewing it he didn't stop! He's a very strong chewer so he chews it off and on and can finish the largest size in a few days. It doesn't stink or leave a residue on carpet or furniture like other chew treats. Added to my auto ship!
