What size BoneHead do I need for these~other packages specify the Himalayan Dog Chew size, but there is nothing to indicate the size on this 3-pack~ty

How do you no that they are made in a sanitary environment and not full of bacteria?
Answer by ChewyAug 31, 2018
Himalayan Chews doesn't use a manufacturing facility to make their Himalayan Dog Chews. Instead they collect the finished product from rural community co-ops in the Himalayas (currently Eastern Nepal and the mountains of West Bengal in India), which they traditional methods in making it for human consumption as well. They are then shipped to their facility in Mukilteo, WA where they're inspected for quality and packaging.

Moldy! Used to be good!

The first two batches of these we received were great and long lasting. They looked and smelled very fresh. The most recent two batches had green spots and fuzzy mold and they REEKED like mildew as soon as we unsealed the bag the first time. We refused to give them to our boxer boy. Chewy refunded us immediately both times but I am concerned that there is no quality control. I’d stay away for now.

weight is short what package says and it appears at least one has mold

I noticed the weight is much less than it used to be so when I weighed the package, the weight of the product is shorted. I even weighed it in the package and it's still short. At least one of the chews looks to have mold on it too. This used to be a good product. Would like to return for credit but don't see that option on Chewy.

He carries it but does not consume it

We joke this is our dog's "emotional support cheese" because he gently brings it from room to room, or takes it from his crate to his bed, but does not actually chew on it. It's interesting. Wanted him to like it (he likes all cheeses, and dairy products and meats, but not vegetables or lobster), so we could microwave it at then end, but alas. Fortunately only bought the two pack.

Moldy 6 hours after opening

I opened this package this morning and gave one to my dog. Then 6 hours later I found the other 2 were moldy and stinky. Usually we love these, but this current shipment was bad. I am a bit worried for my dog as she ate the one this morning.

Killed my dog

I have a large 1-year old Doberman puppy who loved yak chews. I bought this brand as they market it as the original and the safest. The last batch I got was a different texture - it was breaking up into large pieces which I had never seen before. I didn’t think much of it as my dog was fine after (this was on a Saturday). The next day he had diarrhea and threw up. I took him to the hospital immediately and I told them he had a yak stick and I was worried about an obstruction. Unfortunately the hospital did not understand the urgency of the situation and did not immediately operate on him, and he passed away in their care. I had an autopsy done and a 1 inch piece of yak stick was found as obstructing his small intestines - it’s what killed him. I reach out to the company to let them know so they can pull this faulty batch but they never got back to me. Please do not purchase this item!! I lost my baby because of it, it is not safe for your dogs. This item is not safe!

Shrinkflation?

I think these shrank from the last time I bought them. They seem much shorter. I double checked the description, which says 1.25 pounds. The bag I received says 9.9 oz. Not happy, considering how expensive these things are. We will not be buying again.

Not as long lasting as another brand

This did not last as long as another brand, but I also read the same thing about more recent purchases of that brand as well. Dogs love these. They chew on these beside each other like it is a community project!

Great Treat

My dog loves these yak chews and I do too because they are mess-free and last a long time. They are expensive but Chewy had a 40% off deal so it's a win-win for everyone.

Devours too quickly

While my dog absolutely loved these bones, she devoured them too quickly. Some yak bones can last a long time. These, unfortunately, did not. She could get through one in a day.

Some were edible

One was moldy, what do you recommend doing when this happens straight out of the package? I don’t feel comfortable giving it to my pup, it’s such a waste of money and a disappointment since she loves these. Is there a safe way to make the mildewy piece edible?
