Where it All Began
Himalayan Pet Supply is the original creator of the Himalayan Dog Chew. Their team supports a network of over 10,000 Himalayan farmers who handcraft these ancient hard cheese chews for dogs around the world. Not only are these chews adored by pups and approved by pet parents, but they are also the only chews that are certified Fair Trade by the World Fair Trade Organization.
Tradition + Innovation
Combining ancient traditions with modern innovation, Himalayan Pet Supply chews start in the Himalayan mountains at over 15,000 feet, near Mount Everest. They are crafted with a winning combination of yak and cow milk and are 100% free from preservatives and binding agents. And since they are made for dogs, they are completely free from lactose, gluten, grain, soy, corn and wheat!

Serving Pets and the Community
Himalayan Pet Supply took part in passing the first laws in Nepal, allowing farmers to insure their livestock as capital. They also support the health and safety of farmers, their livestock and therefore the health and safety of the dogs who enjoy their treats. With rigid safety and hygiene requirements, you can rest assured that your pet is getting natural, high-quality, ethically sourced chews.
Doing Good One Chew at a Time
Every chew sold supports Chews 4 Literacy and for every pound of cheese chewed, a book is donated to a library in Nepal through the Manaram Foundation. They have built 175 libraries in Nepal providing resources for the farmer families who work hard to provide pets with fresh ingredients. Himalayan Pet Supply also donates 100% of profits from their toy line to the Women’s Skill Development Center.

About Himalayan Pet Supply
In 2003, after discovering Kaos the dog loved Chhurpi, a traditional cheese chew made from the people of the Himalayas, two brothers and their friend had an idea to create a dog-friendly version. After 4 years of tweaking the ancient recipe, removing the lactose and fat content, they ended up with a tasty and savory, long-lasting chew, now known as a Himalayan Dog Chew. Himalayan Pet Supply has grown from a small company attending local pet fairs, to now a global company that’s made their mark in the pet industry by creating a new chew category for dogs.

My dog loves this treat but it gives him the worse dog breath
By Karen on Feb 14, 2021
I purchased the XL cheese dog treat. My dog falls into the weight range of Medium but he is a very vigorous chewer so I bought him the bigger size to make it more difficult for him to use his rear canine teeth to chew. This helps to slow down his eating. My dog really enjoys the chew in its natural form and in the cheese puff form. This treat has a high caloric content so I only allow 20 minutes of chew time per day. I put the treat in the refrigerator to preserve it. My only complaint is his rancid breath afterwards. I'm not sure why but the cheese dog treat makes his breath and saliva smell like bad cheese or butt afterwards.

Kept GS puppy occupied
By Bonnie on Feb 24, 2021
Our German Shepherd puppy (6 months) loved this initially, but has since left alone. When we first gave it to him he spent a good 30-40 minutes just working away, which was fantastic as very few chews keep him busy for that long. After that he hasn’t done much with it, but there are instructions on the bag to turn it into a puff which I’m going to try next and see if that appeals to him. I would still highly recommend based on how long he sat with it initially.

Probably best for large or young dogs
By Nancy on Feb 7, 2021
I work FT and have 3 senior dogs. I am always looking for good, long lasting treats for them (to ease my guilt when I am gone, to be honest!) I loved the idea of these and ordered the small size package. My 3 dogs are xs, s and s/m. However, they did not know what to do with them and they sat for a week, often sniffed but untouched. I remembered reading reviews about microwaving the end bits, so I decided to try and microwave the whole thing. Well, after about 20 seconds, it popped out a bit, and that little bit of "open" did the trick and my dogs then would lick/chew it here and there. But overall, these would be best for large teeth.

Pups like em, didn't last
By Jane on Feb 21, 2021
I ordered 2 of these bc I have 2 dogs (even though, they still manage to fight over 1 everything time). Even though they are same product, looks vastly different from each other (1 is light yellow and more squared, other is much darker and flatter). They both fought over the lighter one, and an hour later it is down to a nub....can't order these again, gone too fast!

very good for strong chewers
By tuck on Feb 1, 2021
both my labs loved these chews. i got the cheese one and was happy that they didnt leave a big mess. Tuck is a really strong chewer so these were down to about 2 inches after about 3 days of chewing. i havent tried to put them in the micro. yet but if I watch them carefull they may get one more night of great chewing out of them. I think they are expensive so they cant have them all the time, but they come running when they hear the wrapper. will buy again.

Poor quality compared to other brands
By TBTB on Jan 15, 2021
I have two German shepherds and have given them yak milk bones before. I bought this brand for the first time and am pretty disappointed. I ordered the XL size and within 10 minutes one of my dogs dropped it on the ground from about 2 feet and the bone broke in half. I can’t safely give them the half size because it’s too small. A few chunks eventually broke off and I followed the instructions to soak and then microwave and the pieces didn’t get soft. I’m just not sure why this brand is so different than other ones I’ve gotten that were much stronger and eventually heated up soft. I won’t be buying these again.

Brittle, did not last long.
By oggoddoggo on Jan 20, 2021
I have purchased yak chews for my dog before and it usually takes him a couple days to gnaw it down to a nub. I specifically got the largest one I could so my 50 pound dog could enjoy it for as long as possible. He had this one down to a nub within an hour, it was so brittle he was just breaking pieces off and eating them instead of chewing on it. Maybe it was a bad batch or an old one that was sent to me but I would not recommend this at all it was a waste.

Great chew!
By LBDLUV on Feb 11, 2021
My baby girl (7 mos old) loves these. They keep her occupied for more than a hot minute. They do not last like an antler chew, but they last incredibly longer than a typical treat. They are worth the money, especially if you can give one and make it last for two weeks.

Awful Bone! Do not buy EXTREMELY hard
By Chris on Jan 2, 2021
Absolutely do not buy this bone for your dog. I have a Pitbull mix who can chew through anything in a matter of minutes. Bought this bone because of it being a long lasting also vegetarian. Gave it to my pup for Christmas and next thing I hear is a loud breaking noise. I swore he broke a tooth, but he didn't he just broke off the tip off a back one. I IMMEDIATELY threw it out. I check reviews online for this bone and many owners have complained about their pet's teeth cracking/breaking. I asked my local vet office and even they said this bone is bad due to how hard it is. Do NOT buy this for your pet unless you want to spend money on dental procedures.

he loves it but it's not cheap
By rkur on Feb 12, 2021
I have a 70 lb Am Staff and yes he loved this - but it was quite expensive! I took it away from him (he was not a fan) two times so it lasted for three different treat times. I imagine for a smaller less voracious dog, it could last longer and be worth the money though!
