when i first bought it was good price wasnt bad, i think price went up and the sizing is really bad now, some are skinny some are really big very very disproportioned. you guys need to fix this issue. its a good product
I have been buying these for years. Within the last year or so, the size of the fish skins have been getting smaller and smaller; many of the ones I get in a bag are a quarter of the size they used to be. They would last for several minutes because they were thick, wide, and hearty. They are not that way any longer. When I reached out to Honest Kitchen via email, they said it’s by weight and not by size and were not even concerned about the evident change in quality/size. I removed these from the autoship rotation because they are a waste of money now. They used to be great, but not anymore.
My dogs (pitbull and german shepherd) are insane chewers, and I was hoping this was something that would last them a few minutes. For reference, a 6 inch bully stick takes them about 5 minutes. Well, these things are quite thin and both dogs can finish them in under a minute. For lighter chewers, these would be great. For my super heavy chewers it is not worth the money/calories.
Having a garbage gut lab, I'm always looking for chews that will occupy him for more than a heartbeat, yet are easily digestible. (I've seen pieces of collagen chews come out the other side of his digestive system mostly intact! :( ) These fit the bill! The wolffish skins take my boy 5-10min to chew for the larger pieces, unlike the 30-seconds for cod skins, but there's still no bones to cause worry like there would be if I gave him whole dried fish. The skins are also a lighter snack than bully sticks or no-hide chicken rolls, but he doesn't get bored/sick of them like he does with beef cheek rolls. They do smell like fish when you pull them out and your dog is chewing, but the smell isn't anywhere as near as awful as bully sticks (I can't deal with full-stink bully sticks). My boy's fur is shinier and healthier-looking when he's been eating fish skins routinely, too; no need for salmon oil supplements. I *wish* I was getting free product in exchange for a review, but alas, I'm just a huge fan who hopes these never go out of production.
Our large Airedale mix absolutely loves these. He actually chews them slower than other jerky type products. Wolffish skins are wonderfully stinky and Walter loves them. They are good for him as well. It's his favorite.
Our little Doxie is a big fan! They are big, fishy, stinky, and apparently very tasty! When we need some personal space from our pup, it’s a great treat for him to work on for awhile. Just don’t let your dog kiss you afterwards, if you don’t like the smell of fish that is….. 10/10
Both my dogs go nuts for these chews. They are both around 50 lbs and big chewers. So they do go through these fairly quickly -- lasting about 5 minutes. But it's a great tool to soothe / distract them when departing. Definitely keeping these stocked in my pantry.
Our puppy likes these but they are gone in under 30 seconds, sadly
My dogs tried it and abandoned it. I was glad, because it stunk to the high heavens. Very expensive for something they won't eat, and stinks if they do.
Our Samoyed, Leo, loves these chews. They don't last a long time, but long enough to entertain him for 5-10 minutes.
