  • Tasty Treat

My French Bulldog is a picky eater, and always runs 2-3 pounds underweight, because he doesn't like to eat. I have been mixing Merrick brand dry dog food with The Honest Kitchen's Dehydrated Grain Free Chicken recipe, and he likes it enough to eat most of it. However, I purchased this bone broth to add flavor to his food hydration instead of plain water, and my precious boy LOVES it!!! He licks his bowl clean at every meal. He has food allergies as well, and this is not affecting him negatively. It's pretty expensive, and you use it by weight of your fur baby, so it could be costly for a larger dog, but is perfect for my 22 pound little man. • It got my dog to eat!!

    By on

We recently adopted a 9mo mixed terrier. His foster mom fed him fresh cooked chicken, rice and veggies. So when he came to us he refused to eat his kibble. Infact, he tried to bury it:) I ended up making the fresh food but I also wanted him to get used to kibble in case he was missing any nutrients. I bought the beef flavor also. Unfortunately he didn’t respond well to it and proceeded to hide/bury the food. Luckily I purchased the chicken flavor too! I added 2TB of chicken broth to his kibble and for the first time he ate it all up!! This made me so happy. He hasn’t had any issues with the broth and really likes it!!

  • Too much protein and poor customer service at Honest Kitchen

    By on

I was very disaponted in this. I was looking forward to using this on my dogs' kibble but didn't realize the extremely high protein percentage (my fault for not researching it better before purchasing). The protein panel shows 60% per two tablespoons of dry broth so I was assuming that when the two tablespoons of dry broth was mixed with a cup of water, the protein level would be less for two tablespoons of hydrated broth. Two tablespoons of dry broth and two tablespoons of hydrated broth should have a different nutritional value, right? The customer service at Honest Kitchen was very poor- they never returned my phone calls so I e-mailed them. The response was very confusing and I don't think I was very disaponted in this. The response was very confusing and I don't think the representative really knew the product or understood the question. She said the broth is 60% protein hydrated or not and the percentage does not change. 60% seems very excessive. I wrote her back saying that the nutritional panel reads 60% per two tablespoons of dry broth. I will not continue this product and now I spent the $13 on this for nothing. … more

  • Not a success

    By on

Unfortunately, this wasn’t successful with any of my 5 pets; 4 cats & 1 dog. It’s a great concept & product but they didn’t like the spices; cinnamon & cardamom. Although, smelling the cinnamon made the cats frisky. Lol. I find it easier to make my own chicken or turkey broth when I make a chicken or turkey breast in the crockpot. They all go crazy for that broth, so I thought I’d try this product as a time saver on busy days. Bummed it didn’t work bc it’s a great product.

  • Great Flavor

    By on Top 1000 Contributor

I normally put a canned food topper on dry kibble, but thought I would switch things up with the broth. It has less sodium than the commercial human broth, smells good, and is an even bigger hit than canned topper. For the winter months, this is great slightly warmed. Every drop gets licked from the dinner bowl.

  • Great for our furry loved ones

    By on Top 25 Contributor

I have an ill senior kitty that needed fluids, calories and vitamins. Adding the bone broth to soften more firm foods really added to his desire to eat and the fragrance while ward is good. The kitties that aren't ill, some liked a little but the majority did not. Mostly the senior cats wanted it.

  • My dogs love it

My great dane Oliver doesn't like eating his joint supplements, so I have to cover them in something that tastes good to trick him into eating them. When I first opened the container, the smell was amazing even to me. Oliver loves having dinner because I put this over his food every night!

  • Neither Dog would go near it!

    By on

One of them took a taste and left the room. The other wouldn’t even taste it. I followed the directions and topped some on their regular food. Then they wouldn’t eat their food either. I admit they’re older dogs and hard to please but they were really turned off.

  • Cat no like

My cat loves bone broth, but not this stuff. I suspect it's the seasonings. WHY!??? are these things added!?
