  • Both Chicken and Beef Broth are always in our pantry

    By on

I'm a fan of canned food, but always add warm water to it for obvious reasons: palatability, re-hydration, and smell. When a friend told me about bone broth, I made it several times – the hard way. Kitchen cleanup of grease, pots and pans, and freezer containers as well as wear and tear on my dutch oven were discouraging: 48 hours of simmering bones, then moving it to small pyrex dishes for storage. But I decided it was worth it Then I discovered Honest Kitchen's Beef and Chicken broths, it's been smooth sailing with little kitchen cleanup: measuring cup and spoon. Best of all my dogs haven't complained about the difference.

  • Dogs loveeee rehydrated kibble!

    By on

We recently started purchasing things to enhance my dogs diets (both in which have a sensitive stomach) and came across this! It’s been great to rehydrate kibble and add some extra nutrients to their diet. My dogs love the flavor of this and will drink it even as a “soup” or kibble topper. It didn’t upset their stomachs at all and even lasts in our refrigerator a few days with no issues.

  • It got my dog to eat!!

    By on

We recently adopted a 9mo mixed terrier. His foster mom fed him fresh cooked chicken, rice and veggies. So when he came to us he refused to eat his kibble. Infact, he tried to bury it:) I ended up making the fresh food but I also wanted him to get used to kibble in case he was missing any nutrients. I bought the beef flavor also. Unfortunately he didn’t respond well to it and proceeded to hide/bury the food. Luckily I purchased the chicken flavor too! I added 2TB of chicken broth to his kibble and for the first time he ate it all up!! This made me so happy. He hasn’t had any issues with the broth and really likes it!!

None of my cats liked this. Tried on several seperate occasions to give. Nope! Has a very strong smell. Smells like Thanksgiving, which I guess my cats just don't appreciate. I gave 3 stars because I have odd cats and yours may enjoy this just fine!

  • Too much protein and poor customer service at Honest Kitchen

    By on

I was very disaponted in this. I was looking forward to using this on my dogs' kibble but didn't realize the extremely high protein percentage (my fault for not researching it better before purchasing). The protein panel shows 60% per two tablespoons of dry broth so I was assuming that when the two tablespoons of dry broth was mixed with a cup of water, the protein level would be less for two tablespoons of hydrated broth. Two tablespoons of dry broth and two tablespoons of hydrated broth should have a different nutritional value, right? The customer service at Honest Kitchen was very poor- they never returned my phone calls so I e-mailed them. The response was very confusing and I don't think I was very disaponted in this. The response was very confusing and I don't think the representative really knew the product or understood the question. She said the broth is 60% protein hydrated or not and the percentage does not change. 60% seems very excessive. I wrote her back saying that the nutritional panel reads 60% per two tablespoons of dry broth. I will not continue this product and now I spent the $13 on this for nothing. … more

  • Awesome sauce

    By on

This stuff tastes delicious, according to our dog and it smells delicious according to me. It smells like fall in a container. I love mixing this in our dog's food and when she has an upset tummy we just give her a little bowl of it. Love Honest Kitchen and Chewy!

  • Works as expected

I've feed it to my three cats, and two appear to like it. The one who didn't like it will mostly ignore her food if this has been added.

  • Tasty Treat

    By on

My French Bulldog is a picky eater, and always runs 2-3 pounds underweight, because he doesn't like to eat. I have been mixing Merrick brand dry dog food with The Honest Kitchen's Dehydrated Grain Free Chicken recipe, and he likes it enough to eat most of it. However, I purchased this bone broth to add flavor to his food hydration instead of plain water, and my precious boy LOVES it!!! He licks his bowl clean at every meal. He has food allergies as well, and this is not affecting him negatively. It's pretty expensive, and you use it by weight of your fur baby, so it could be costly for a larger dog, but is perfect for my 22 pound little man.
