My Husky/Malamute would not eat this

I read all of the reviews and really had an optimistic mind set when purchasing this wet pate for my senior dog who recently started losing weight and figured human grade food would be a much welcome addition to her diet. She did not eat any of this not even after being excited for me to open it. I tried it as a food topper and also a bowl separate as a meal. I gave it three stars due to the fact that it resembles canned food and I was expecting something different. Perhaps, that's more of my issue.

Honest Kitchen Butcher Block Pate Beef, Cheddar & Farm Veggies Dog Food

In trying to find a higher quality pet food, I have been buying different brands of "Human Grade" dog food. The Honest Kitchen Butcher Block Pate Beef with Cheddar & Farm Veggies was well received by my girl. It came packaged in a sealed coated cardboard box that stores easily in my pantry. You only need to refrigerate the unused portions to maintain freshness. Their PATE, was just the right consistency -- A wet dog food that was not watery, and she LOVED IT ! She even went back to her bowl several times to lick the bowl clean. My only negative comment is that the box container is difficult to open. You will need scissors to cut the sealed opening. As I keep a pair in my Kitchen, this was not an obstacle. YES, I do recommend this product and I will probably purchase more in the near future. Thank you Honest Kitchen for making this pet food.

Beef, Cheddar & Farm Veg Pate is the only one that states, "No tapioca"

Our dogs have had past issues with yeast infections in their paws and ears so it is important for them to eat little carbs, grains and sugar, which includes tapioca. Of all the Butcher Block Pate and Pour overs, this is the only one that the ingredients does not show any tapioca. They no longer eat any kibble so we mix this in their home made meals to add vitamins, minerals, etc.

I have a lot of hope for this pate

My 5-yr-old former "puppy mill momma" developed diabetes and I need to find a dog food with lower carbs, relative to the excellent THK dehydrated food she has been eating. We are starting the transition to Butcher Block and I'll be monitoring her insulin levels to see if this is better for her. She loves the taste, so all fingers and paws are crossed. (I'll award the final fifth star once I see stable numbers.)

Dogs love it

Fact: dogs will love it, and it’s easier to serve than the honest kitchen powdered food and it’s convenient for traveling etc but you pay for it. It’s very expensive if you plan on feeding this alone and the boxes are smaller than than canned food. This is more expensive than feeding raw or home cooked. I use it as an alternative when I travel or am busy

good quality food

Unlike many canned dog foods, this actually smells more like food. I try to buy good quality foods for my girl and even they often have a bad smell. This stuff actually smells like it is real food and my dog loves it. She will lick the bowl for some time afterwards. Since she's on in her years and showing signs of aging I feel it's even more important to make sure her nutrition needs are met and then some. She is doing quite well with this and the Brutus bone broth. According to the directions she would be eating 3 boxes of this stuff a day and with the price that would be pretty expensive. I feed her 2 meals a day and one afternoon smaller bit and since it's such good nutirition that she is doing quite fine on just one to 1.5 boxes a day with some bone broth in the afternoon's bit and just a bit of dry food with the morning meal. She is doing better than she has in a long time with both of these products. As long as I can keep her going this way at her advanced age, I will continue to buy both products. Very happy customer.

He liked it, until he didn’t!

The food is a pate where you can still some of the vegetables like green beans or carrots in the consistency. He liked the first 3 boxes but stopped eating the 4th box! We don’t know why… I will probably give the last 2 boxes to our local animal shelter.

Not what I expected

I have been searching for a hood and healthy wet food for my dogs and after reading the reviews for this particular one, I thought I’d give it a try. Either every batch of this one is different or I received the ones that were super watery. My dogs wouldn’t eat it. I opened the first box and it was super watery. Didn’t seem like it was spoiled or anything although I won’t taste it so it was discarded. I thought perhaps it was just one box but when I opened the second box it too was also extremely watery with a lot of gelatin & no chunks of pate of edible wet food. From the picture and reviews, I know it’s not suppose to be this watery otherwise it would be soup. I’m not sure if this is normal or not but I’m going to assume the rest of the remaining boxes will be watery instead of me opening them all. Very disappointing and a waste of money when I could have bought something else for the dogs instead. So I had to whip up some burger meet for them before heading out to work.
