I was looking for a new healthy food to feed my older cats after their former food changed its formula. I thought I had found it in Honest Kitchen. I have 5 cats and at first all 5 of my cats loved this food, but after a few weeks on it, several of my cats started getting very sick and developed some serious health issues. Two of my cats began vomiting after eating this food and one of my cats developed a pretty bad UTI. All of my cats now have poop issues and their poop smells horrible, and their coat all looks very dry. I would definitely not recomend this for any pets that might have health issues, or sensitivity to foods. It might be good for younger cats, but I would think carefully about feeding long term, as it does seem to cause health problems or may not be the best for older cats.
Very hard to find human grade food for our pets so thank you Honest Kitchen and Chewy. I like the container and did not find it difficult to use, just snipped off the top with shears. I have 4 cats and two like the Beef and Chicken pate and two were a "sniff and walk away". I am trying a different flavor as well as minced vs pate to see if it meets with everyone's approval. Fat chance with this group but I will buy more based on the healthy ingredients. They are worth the cost.
After many, many healthy and different foods, we found a food our cat Callie loves. I've trusted Honest Kitchen with all my dogs and cats and this Cate is perfect. Easy and better than a can. Thanks Honest Kitchen.
Quality food however my cats really didn't care for it
I first want to say what a great company this is. I tried their cat food a few years ago, but none of my cats liked it. It seemed that they didn't like the cereal consistency. I called their customer service representatives for advice and have never spoken to nicer people. Just a week ago my cat decided he needed a food change. I was pleased to come across the new cat formulas that Honest Kitchen has now. I commend them for finding a way to make good food that cats seem to really like. I ordered the beef Cate and the Whole Food Clusters Grain-Free Chicken Dry Cat Food. My cat goes nuts for them both. He has always liked beef and pork flavored food, but it's been difficult to find those flavors over the past few years. So not only is he now eating something that he really likes, but I've finally been able to get food for him from Honest Kitchen which pleases me to no end.
The ingredients are great and the food smells wonderful. My 2 Persian cats REALLY want to eat this but can't. The consistency is a bit too runny and their little flat faces cannot eat this when it is spread out in a thin layer on the bottom of the bowl. Chilling it in the fridge did not help firm up the consistency. We keep pushing it back into a little mound again but after a few bites, it flattens out and they can't eat it again. Will need to donate the 11 remaining packets to the animal shelter.
My cats like this food, however I won’t be purchasing it again due to the horrible packaging.
We've been feeding The Honest Kitchen products to our dogs for over a decade so it's a brand we trust 100%. Up until recently they didn't have a good selection of cat products, but we kept asking why not after all cats deserve the same attention as dogs! Well, a few months ago they finally released their new cat food line, we were anxious to try it. We have tried 3 "Cate" flavors including this Beef & Chicken Recipe and we are over the moon! Wonderful food - great smell, texture, all our foster kitties love it and most important it's made of quality ingredients. We also purchased the Grain Free dehydrated Turkey, and Chicken Recipes (the one you mix with warm water). Some of our cats won't eat the dehydrated recipes on its own but do like it if we mix with Pate and warm water. The one thing we wish is that the pate carton size was a little bigger - 6oz size.
out of the 3 non-seafood flavors I tried: chicken pate, turkey pate, beef & chicken pate; this flavor is my cat's favorite. this food is human grade, zero ingredients from china & good ingredients.
