Do I have to add water to these ?
Answer by Chewy • Nov 12, 2019
These food cluster do not require moistening before consumption.

What is the temperature of the slow roasted process?
Answer by Chewy • Nov 10, 2019
The dehydration process for the meats and eggs takes place at temperatures above 120 degrees. All other ingredients are dehydrated below 104 degrees and are still considered raw, after drying, with the exception of potato flakes; these are dried using a slightly different process at 284°F for 5 seconds, which helps to break down the cellulose and make them more digestible.

Not for us

I had just finished reading an article in the May/June 2023 issue of AKC's Family Dog magazine about foods and Mood under the Food & Nutrition heading. It was noted that foods that contain pulses (peas, lentils, chickpeas, and dry beans) are thought to cause fatal dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) in dogs. It had been thought that grain free diets were the culprits, but the FDA has revised that alert, stating it now appears that pulses are the cause. This food has peas and lentils as the 3rd and 5th ingredients, so I will not be feeding our Robbie this recipe. The Honest Kitchen is a great company, but I believe they should revise their recipes of the Grain Free line.

dog food handling

I noticed this w/my first order of dry dog food. I hoped it was a one-off. The problem continued with each delivery. As my husband put it "I've never seen anything like it". Bag of kibble/dry dog food looks like half the bag is powder or kibble dust.

Good Food but too large kibble site size

I was happy about this food, although my 2 years old miniature poodle was not a fan. I think the was too big for her. I mixed it with some wet food to get her to eat it, but she would never finish a bowl. Sadly, we will need to find something comparable in quality but smaller size kibble.

Dust

This is not about the quality of the product it's about the condition upon receipt. Too much of the food is absolute dust! It's just crushed crumbs which is a big disappointment. I use a Kong toy put some of the food in when it's meal time and I have to sift through to find solid kibble. Anyway, I doubt I'd buy it again.

My dog had allergic reaction

I buy my 14 year old Labrador mix good food, Annamaet, and he's been healthy his whole life. I wanted to give him something different but healthy so I mixed this with his regular food. Now he's biting himself constantly, rubbing himself on everything, enough that it warrants a vet visit since one spot is raw. It might be great food but there's something in it that he can't tolerate. Sometimes, 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it' applies to pets too. =(

Dry, dry, dry and constipation

The photos of the product make it look good and the marketing, healthy. However, this is the driest kibble I've ever seen. It looks like it sat in an oven for way too long and despite slowly transitioning my dog to this, it bound him up over and over and I have now given up. A complete waste of nearly $100. By the way, pumpkin puree and olive oil are great for getting it all moving again. I throw some canned chicken in for more flavor.

Way too much kibble dust!

Way too much kibble dust, more than ive ever seen in a bag of dog food. For how expensive it is, too much waste. I wanted to love this because of it being cleaner but I will just have to go back to my old brand and try to make more homemade food for my dog.

Love this food!

My German Shepherd loves this food. It is keeping her fit and gives her energy. The food has dust, it is normal. This food doesn't have all the chemicals the other brands have, so it is normal to break easily, I mix in a little of bit of warm water and No problem! My Lola loves this food!

Good quality dog food

These are great dog food, there's no doubt. No by products and great ingredients. I like that it has veggies included and no sugar or fillers like corn soy or wheat. The only ingredients Re barley and oats I believe which seems fine for my pup. He does seem to like the grain free one much better. The only con is packaging. Zip loc is great and package itself is great. The problem is for all we know these products get mishandled or tossed easily and because these are minimally processed, it breaks easily. I LOVE that it's minimally processed but maybe wrap it with bubble wrap for delivery? To prevent the crumbs on the bottom of the bag? But otherwise, these are great high quality dog food.

Makes a nice training treat

I feed Honest Kitchen dehydrated on a regular basis, but this makes a nice training treat. I've also used it in lieu of the regular dehydrated when she is staying overnight with a friend as it's easier and not as messy. She loves the dehydrated, but I don't like to ask a friend to outfit her with a snood for feeding time. This fills the bill.
