The Honest Kitchen Grain-Free Turkey Recipe Dehydrated Dog Food

Holly (my Scottie) & I are huge HK fans! However, I kept running into issues with bones in the turkey and chicken formulas this year. This last box of turkey is the end of purchasing anymore HK poultry products. Holly is a senior with too few teefers to chew which made HK a plus, but this bone issue is out of contol! For the price you shouldn't have to worry about bone shards. Be careful and sift through to check for big or sharp bone chunks, if you do purchase. I haven't seen bones in the beef formula though. HK Fruits & Veggies w/ me adding cooked ground turkey or chicken is by far her favorite anyway. I'll just have to be more pro-active in the prep and up the grocery budget.

I can not rave enough about this food. She never had any interest in food and now she waits. Ear infections gone and poop finally normal.

They get raves from my Vet and strangers they meet about how great they look, and they are incredibly healthy considering their age. I never feed chicken, one of them is chicken sensitive so we have tried a lot of different diets over the years. My philosophy, feed well, be well. I used to use the Honest Kitchen Grain Free Base mix and add all the meat. It wouldn't matter what meat I added, they never had issues with it, oh, and they loved it. Recently I decided to try the Turkey because I can feed them anytime I want without having to add meat. I have large dogs with high metabolisms. To maintain their weight I can't divide what they would normally eat in one meal for 2 meals. Then they only get half the calories even though they are eating the same volume. I worry that increasing the volume may increase their risk of bloating.

I am a healthy food person and I want what is best for my dogs. I have looked around for different foods with the best ingredients a lot. I like the idea of giving them hydrated food that is going to be easier for them to digest and more like what they are supposed to eat if they were eating naturally in the wild. Eventually, I want to use this product to go with a more raw diet of meats. My dogs cannot wait for meal time.

I originally purchased the Chicken recipe for my elderly dog who has trouble chewing kibble. She liked it and ate well at first. Then she started refusing to eat it unless she was REALLY hungry. So I tried the Turkey recipe and none of my 3 dogs likes it. Even the 3 month old puppy. I will not be purchasing this again.

I had been buying the Grain free Chicken and wanted to mix it up for the pups. It is of a much runnier consistency than the chicken. And very green because of the spinach. However, the dogs love it. So in the end, that's all that matters.

The only thing we could get him to eat was the cheap play dough consistency dog food (that I hated giving him) which he would leave in his bowl all day and finally eat before bed if he didn’t get enough table scraps. I was so skeptical but tried this anyway. He eats 2 servings a day, watching my every move as I rehydrate it, pokes the box with his nose when he’s hungry, chooses this food over treats and “human food” from our table and licks his lips while we wait the 3 minutes for it to soften/rehydrate.
