    Honest Kitchen is the real deal

    Let me start my review by telling you about my pups. They are 14/15 year old, male Standard Labradoodles. They get raves from my Vet and strangers they meet about how great they look, and they are incredibly healthy considering their age. They get raves from my Vet and strangers they meet about how great they look, and they are incredibly healthy considering their age. I never feed chicken, one of them is chicken sensitive so we have tried a lot of different diets over the years. My philosophy, feed well, be well. I used to use the Honest Kitchen Grain Free Base mix and add all the meat. It wouldn't matter what meat I added, they never had issues with it, oh, and they loved it. Recently I decided to try the Turkey because I can feed them anytime I want without having to add meat. I still add meat most of the time, but this way I am assured they are getting the protein at every meal. Because it is powdered I don't worry about introducing bacteria into their more fragile immune systems. I feed 2x a day, but sometimes breaking it up even more just to keep them eating.Their energy is sporadic, but they are interested in any food or treat when I offer it to them, and that's the most important thing as they age.     It's a good food but...

    I have large dogs with high metabolisms. To maintain their weight I can't divide what they would normally eat in one meal for 2 meals. Then they only get half the calories even though they are eating the same volume. I worry that increasing the volume may increase their risk of bloating.
