Mix well with warm water, stir well and wait 3 minutes then serve with love!

We suggest dividing daily amount into 2 servings, 1 in the AM and 1 in the PM. Our foods must be hydrated with water before serving, but you can add slightly more or less water than we suggest, according to your pet's taste. Refrigerate or discard any leftovers.

Instructions for cups: 1. Tear back seal and add warm water to fill line. 2. Stir and wait 3 minutes for food to hydrate. 3. Pour into your pet's bowl and serve with love.

Transition Instructions

If your dog has never tried our foods before, we recommend starting out slowly. Over a period of 1 to 2 weeks or so, start by adding just a small amount of the Honest Kitchen (with water added) into your dog’s current meals. Gradually increase the amount of the Honest Kitchen while decreasing the amount of your dog’s original diet.

The Honest Kitchen may be mixed in with your dog’s current dry kibble, canned, raw, etc. However, we do not suggest adding in other extra ingredients during the transition if you can avoid it, especially if your pup’s system is very sensitive. After you’ve successfully transitioned your dog to the new food, perhaps after 2-4 weeks or so, and they are doing well, then you may consider adding in extra ingredients or introducing another honest kitchen recipe, etc.

  • Molly did not like this food!! Very grainy.

    By on

I was so excited to get this food today & try it. I used a half a cup to make Molly her supper & she does not like it. Took a bite & spit it back out on the floor. I think she really didn't like the texture. I read great reviews of HK & thought I would try it. She has a sensitive tummy. I expected this food would be a lot smoother but it's very grainy/gritty. Also VERY green, like there's way to much parsley/celery. It does look like pea soup. Very frustrating when you spend $52.00 on a dog food, use 1/2 cup & cant return it.

  • NOT BOW-WOWED

    By on Top 100 Contributor

This is easy to store and prepare: just add hot water, stir and wait 3 minutes. I wasn't sure my Yorkie, Cooper, would eat it because it's green and a new taste, so I put it on top of my homemade puppy food, which he loves. Sure enough, he turned up his nose! Undeterred, I mixed it in with my homemade and tried again. This time Cooper ate his whole breakfast. COOPER'S REVIEW: The ingredients are human grade and healthy which is great! Each container makes 12 oz, the equivalent of a large can of dog food, but the price is a bit less. Because it's dehydrated, it will keep indefinitely, so it's great for weather emergencies, power outages, travel and such. Now, for the "nitty-gritty" - the texture when mixed as directed is a bit loose and gritty, like sand. Mom used scalding hot water, but even waiting longer than 3 minutes didn't smooth out the texture. I suggest mixing it with your regular food, gradually changing ratios, if you buy this. On it's own, I wasn't bow-wowed by this food. • hope. New recipe, NO flaxseed!

    By on

We've only used it for a couple of weeks, but already very pleased. The quinoa didn't sit well with one of my dogs and I don't want the flaxseed... so far so good. If the second ingredient was the sweet potatoes I would have given it 5 stars.

  • Quality food but watch the "use by" date

    By on

My dog had no problem with this food, but I noticed the "use by" date was February 14, 2018, and I received the food February 13, 2018. Honest Kitchen is a great company, and I like the speedy shipping from Chewy. However, I'm not impressed that Chewy is selling food this old. I will be watching the "use by" date on other Chewy products, and you should, too.

  • Great Food

    By on

The beef and chickpea was pretty good; only thing is that it does take more like 5-10 min to rehydrate. I will try a different Honest Kitchen dehydrated food next time.

  • Healthy, FDA approved Human grade Dog Food

    By on

A quick look at the ingredients list tells you that this is absolutely good food for your dog. They are the only brand that is FDA approved for producing human grade dog food. This is a dehydrated dog food and NOT freeze-dried for those wondering. It is harder to rehydrate compared to freeze-dried as the chunks take about 15 minutes to fully rehydrate hence the 4 stars. My corgi is just staring at me and whimpering as to why his food is not ready in an instance and he has to wait. But that tests his patience right ? :) We feed a 25 lb 10 month old corgi 1/2 cup per meal 2x a day for a total of 1 cup a day and mix in some raw Stella and Chewy beef dinner patties and he loves it. He would rather eat this over Grandma Lucy's which is bizarre to me. We mix room temperature water with the food and stick it in the microwave for 10s, so it rehydrates faster with warm water and you don't have to wait the full 15 minutes. The poop comes out firm but in large quantities and doesn't smell. It is definitely not the same as feeding raw where the poop is very small. So far he's been doing great on this food and will continue to use. … more

  • Didn't re-hydrate well

    By on

We usually buy the Force (chicken) or Embark (turkey) options, but picked this up when it was significantly on sale to test out. The food did not re-hydrate to a porridge consistency as the Force or Embark varieties do. Instead it remained very watery with chunks of dried bits on the bottom. It stayed this consistency even after waiting 10 minutes. Not sure if this is typical or if we received a bad batch. Our dog still ate it, but would stop and cough often (he normally doesn't take a breath when eating his food).

  • Great food

    By on

We love the honest kitchen dehydrated limited ingredients food for our retriever mix. She used to get hives all over her body but as soon as we switched to THK we haven't had a single one ever since! We love all the flavors and she gobbles up every flavor as soon as it's in front of her. Excited to try both the new flavors!
