For several years we have fed our dogs the human grade dehydrated Honest Kitchen dog food. I believe it is a high-quality dog food, well balanced, and I like the choices offered; limited ingredients and no grains. Our Elkie scarfs the slurry down with much relish. I also like the fact that I can stir in a little brown rice for his grain or add supplements.
So, I this was food of choice with my senior diabetic blind dog for many years. Kept her alive and well. Was excited to start my new puppy on this but noticed that it was way less smelling like Turkey parsnip and smelling way more like coconut! Loved the way the old formula was from 2 years ago. Puppy had no interest. There had to be some sort of recipe change.
Honestly, I don't think it looks very appetizing, but it's lots of fun to watch my miniature poodle clean the bowl and then go back and carefully lick the sides until they are perfectly clean.
The Honest Kitchen has been the most constant food my picky princess has liked. I went away from it to kibble but had bouts of her not eating due to her pickiness. Went back to The Honest Kitchen and she can not wait for meal times. She is 15 years old.. she gets what she wants.
ingredients I trust, in a limited capacity for my sensitive dog. please don't stop selling this "limited ingredient" Honest Kitchen product! it's costly but so much better than most dog foods out there. my dog loves it!
My dog has always had food allergies and is recovering from cancer, so I had switched him from a raw diet to the Grain Free Turkey recipe. Tried out the limited ingredient Grain Free recipe, and he likes it fine and no allergy issues. But, whereas the regular Turkey recipe is a pretty smooth texture and stays in his bowl or in his tummy, this one has a lot of tiny grainy pieces ( maybe the beans?) and they end up everywhere. He didn't have allergy issues with the regular recipe so I will go back to that once this is used up.
so many dogs have allergies and allergic to almost every food. this is a good quality brand, almost the only one! dogs love it and us too! please keep up getting this. its the best!!!!!
We started raw diet due to horrible skin allergies on my maltese. She didn't like the actual raw meat so we first tried Ziwi, which she liked, but would get loose stool. I switched to the Honest Kitchen and haven't looked back since. We've tried the turkey and fish limited ingredient and she loves them. Even her bowel movement is very predictable. Her skin looks amazing. She still gets skin allergies, but nothing compared to how it was. Food always ships super fast!
This would be the one I would choose. The smell is kind of pleasant, with a faint aroma of coconut. My chowhound wolfs it down as is, while my pickier dog requires extra freshly cooked meat on top to entice her. Sometimes she gives up after a while because the thick texture requires some effort to eat. If I make it ahead of time I can form it into bite-sized patties for easy eating.
We and our dog like the ingredients in this Limited Ingredient Turkey Recipe. When you open the box you can definitely see and smell how wholesome the food is. Our Border Collie loves the food and is doing very well on it. We mix some of it with the Honest Kitchen clusters for some crunch. We very highly recommend this food!
