Mix food with warm water, stir well and wait 3 minutes for food to hydrate. We suggest dividing daily amount into 2 servings, 1 in the AM and 1 in the PM. For larger dogs adjust accordingly. Please remember these are only guidelines! Your individual dog's needs will vary with age and activity. Love™ may be fed ad - libitum during growth, gestation or lactation. Our foods must be hydrated with water before serving, but you can add slightly more or less water than we suggest, according to your pet's taste. Refrigerate or discard any leftovers.

Instructions for Cups:

  1. Tear back seal and add warm water to fill line.
  2. Stir and wait 3 minutes for food to hydrate.
  3. Pour into your pet's bowl and serve with love.

Transition Instructions

If your dog has never tried our foods before, we recommend starting out slowly. Over a period of 1 to 2 weeks or so, start by adding just a small amount of the Honest Kitchen (with water added) into your dog’s current meals. Gradually increase the amount of the Honest Kitchen while decreasing the amount of your dog’s original diet.

The Honest Kitchen may be mixed in with your dog’s current dry kibble, canned, raw, etc. However, we do not suggest adding in other extra ingredients during the transition if you can avoid it, especially if your pup’s system is very sensitive. After you’ve successfully transitioned your dog to the new food, perhaps after 2-4 weeks or so, and they are doing well, then you may consider adding in extra ingredients or introducing another honest kitchen recipe, etc.

Dehydrated to Lock in Natural Goodness

The Honest Kitchen dehydrated dog foods are made with a single meat protein — free-range chicken, cage-free turkey or hormone-free beef — all sustainably sourced. Their grain-free recipes are great for pups with sensitivities, and the whole grain options are made with organic rolled oats. They're less processed than regular dry food, and dehydrated to retain their natural goodness and flavor.

We are long time raw food feeders, and on occasion have tried a "grain free" kibble for our most high energy dogs, without much success. We had seen HK for many years, never tried it. We finally decided to try it with our high drive males, who burn more calories in a day than most dogs do in a week. We needed calories, clean calories, easily digested, as with our raw feeding but without unnecessary bulk. We also wanted a chicken alternative b/c we were finding that our dogs were having some itching with so much chicken in their diets. No chemicals, no "beaks , feet, and offal" I started with just a 1/2 cup per dog, to introduce slowly. THEY LOVED IT. Cut to the chase, our dogs have never been in better shape, lean, but not so much where we have to throw a ton of food at them. We are feeding this not as a base (although you could) but as an addition to pork and beef that we feed raw. It smells good too, like food should. I would recommend it to anyone looking for "Honest" food for their pets, working dogs, show dogs. … more

  • My guy loves it

    By on

We started my rescue Westie on Honest Kitchen because he was extremely picky, and we figured he might be more inclined to eat high-quality food. After some experimentation, we landed on a 50/50 blend of Love and Verve, the whole-grain beef recipe. This not only lowers the fat content (important for our guy since he's older), but also stretches the more-expensive Love to last longer. He's doing great on it and he eats it with no problems. His poops are magnificent, which is a *big* deal after weeks and weeks of loose sickly-dog poops, and his health has improved dramatically.

  • gone in minutes!

I have been a free feeder for years but with 3 yorkies it's hard to make sure they all get he right amount of food. I have been using this food for 5 Days. They empty the bowl almost immediately. No waste and they are excited for meal time. I have one Yorkie that just lays around and his attitude as completely changed in the past 5 Days. It's amazing!! He is full of energy and wags his tail and now plays. IM so happy!!

  • Packaging should say water required,...

    By on

Going by previous reviews, I thought I would give it a try for my extremely picky Papillon. I'm sorry to say this didn't work, he immediately backed up from it and looked at me like I was nuts :-( I graded this product a three because I don't think it's the quality of the food, however, the description could be better. A lot of dehydrated, freeze dried, even dry kibble can be hydrated with water or broth, with this product, one must add water, because it's a mix, like a course powder. Then when you do add water, it's a soup or a paste.

  • New concept dog food

    By on

I try to be very selective about what my 6 year old Golden Retriever eats. This Honest Kitchen dog food comes in a 10 lb box and it is simple to prepare. I use this as a supplement to his homemade food - fresh meat and veggies and some crunchy dry dog food, wild Alaskan oil, probiotics and brewers yeast. My dog is happy and healthy.

  • Honest Kitchen - Too Many Potatoes in Beef Grain Free

    By on

I know this company has a good reputation for well prepared food but do you really want to feed your dogs 25 potatoes over a few weeks time? This food is not cheap and I get that it costs money for the preparation and good food but paying $100 for 25 potatoes and other ingredients is not quite right. I threw this food out. I'm feeding a raw diet now.

  • Our dog loves it and its super healthy

I wanted the most healthy dog food I could find and I think this is it. Our shih tzu/poodle loves it. You do have to let it sit and re-hydrate for awhile before its ready to eat.

  • Used as a gravy

    By on

My beagle mix loves this stuff! We add a tablespoon to each meal and water it down and she eats it all up! She used be a 'free feeder' before we got our Lab puppy, who by the way eats EVERYTHING. We needed something to convince her to eat her meals and not periodically in the day. This helped so much!
