Feeding Instructions

Weight Daily Feeding (cup)
1 - 5 lbs 1/8 - 1/4
6 - 10 lbs 1/4 - 1/2
11 - 16 lbs 1/2 - 3/4
17 - 21 lbs 3/4 - 1

Mix food with warm water, stir well and wait 3 minutes for food to hydrate. These guidelines are based on the requirements of lean and more active, indoor/outdoor cats. For less active cats, we recommend feeding slightly less. For larger cats, adjust accordingly. Our foods must be hydrated with water before serving, but you can add slightly more or less water than we suggest, according to your pet's taste. Refrigerate or discard any leftovers.

Transition Instructions

If your dog has never tried our foods before, we recommend starting out slowly. Over a period of 1 to 2 weeks or so, start by adding just a small amount of the Honest Kitchen (with water added) into your dog’s current meals. Gradually increase the amount of the Honest Kitchen while decreasing the amount of your dog’s original diet.

The Honest Kitchen may be mixed in with your dog’s current dry kibble, canned, raw, etc. However, we do not suggest adding in other extra ingredients during the transition if you can avoid it, especially if your pup’s system is very sensitive. After you’ve successfully transitioned your dog to the new food, perhaps after 2-4 weeks or so, and they are doing well, then you may consider adding in extra ingredients or introducing another honest kitchen recipe, etc.

Dehydrated to Lock in Natural Goodness

The Honest Kitchen dehydrated cat foods dish out tons of protein with 70% delicious cage-free turkey or free-range chicken. Both their Grace and Prowl recipes are dehydrated, which means they are less processed for more natural whole food goodness. These grain-free meals are high in moisture and protein — the perfect alternative to canned food or highly processed dry food.

  • Surprised! Plate was licked clean on first try!

Seems like Monsieur Tomette really likes this! I am happy because I trust the good ingredients in Honest Kitchen. It fullfills all restrictions I have on cat food - no carrageenan, grain free, no menadione among others, and their poultry is hormone and antibiotics free too, that's a huge plus. First time I tried Honest Kitchen, Grace the turkey flavor, it took months for him to love the good food. So all the patience to introduce good healthy food to my pink nose really paid off! With this chicken, I did not expect he would like it right away, but he did! Highly recommended, if your cats don't like it right away, be persistent and patient, it will really pay off to know that your babies eat good Seems like Monsieur Tomette really likes this! • Meh interest

    By on

My "puppy" cat is attracted to many different kinds of food, for cats and for humans. She's not very picky, but when I prepared the sample for her, she ate about half then lost interest. She rarely loses interest when she really likes something. I don't if she got truly full (because I've never seen that happen), or she doesn't like the consistency. I've tried just the chicken flavor thinking she'd like that one the most since her regular dry food is purely chicken.

  • Kitties Love It!

    By on

I have 2 kitties that NEVER finished their kibble. I started mixing a rehydrated Tbsp of this with their dry, and they eat every morsel! It's too expensive to feed them both as a primary food, but I will def continue to mix it (the other 7 cats would prob want it then too, def couldn't afford that! Lol) The others do lick their bowls clean for me though haha

  • All 3 of my kitties love this!

    By on

My three kitties devoured this food. I made about a tablespoon each for them the first time; they finished and begged for more. I was planning to give them a little bit each day as a treat, but they like it better than their regular food and now it's part of their daily diet.

  • Expensive Mistake

    By on

I have 3 cats but not one of them would touch it. I left it in their bowls all day but they preferred to go hungry rather than eat it. Costly mistake to buy it. I wouldn't have given it any stars except I guess you have to give it at lease one to submit the review.

  • Lifesaver (literally)

    By on

My cat (8 year old, Maine Coon) was dealing with some digestive and urinary issues. After putting him on a bunch of meds and trying different foods, the vet said that we could just keep him on the meds (which were only helping about 80%) but the medicine would shorten kitty's lifespan by a few years. We decided to try this food in combination with his Royal Canin Urinary SO food. TA DA! All his digestive issues cleared up, and he didn't need to be on the medicine anymore. He loves the food and will cry as he impatiently waits the 3 minutes as the food re-hydrates. He will then scarf the food and make adorable little piggy noises when he eats. *Just in case anyone else has a kitty with digestive My cat (8 year old, Maine Coon) was dealing with some digestive and urinary issues. • Prowl (I use it as a seasoning)

    By on

My cats won't eat the regular hard kibble. I don't use the dehydrated food as they suggest. I pour Iams kibble into the cat dish. I then sprinkle the dehydrated food on top and add water. They love the combination!

  • Two of my cats developed bladder stones on this food

    By on

Two of my cats developed bladder stones on this food, both of which required invasive surgery to remove the stones and flush out the bladder. One was an older spayed female and the other was a younger neutered male. I have since read that plant-based protein and pea protein can both be blamed for this; I do not know if it was the food but since changing their diet, there has been no more instances of bladder stones. For this reason, I cannot recommend this food, even though the ingredients are responsibly sourced.

  • My three cats didn't like it

    By on

I don't know why, exactly, but I put a little on my finger, since it's Human Grade food, and it tasted okay like Chicken flavor which it was,so I don't know what, wet food,to feed them anymore,i've tried just about every brand of wet food, which is the type of food i've fed them for years. I am now trying dry food which they eat much better, but they don't like any Grain Free Kinds Wet/Dry. Only one of my cats has early kidney disease but good quality of life still and my other two are Seniors but are okay so.....
