I read where its better to hydrate you dog's kibble before feeding. They eat slower and when you give them dry kibble and then they drink water, the kibble swells up in their stomachs which may not be so good. I put warm water on her kibble and let it soak in for 20 minutes. I swells and gets soft. Then I mix 1/2 cup of The Honest Kitchen Revel Dehydrated Dog Food (hydrated) into it. The Revel only takes 3 minutes to rehydrate. The smell is like my mother's giblet gravy when I was a kid. You can use all The Honest Kitchen Revel Dehydrated Dog Food but it kind of pricy so that's why I mix it. • Dog goes mad for this!

I try to always buy meat that has been reared humanely and sustainably so, if I care about that for me, it seems double standards to not care about the source of protein for my dog. I am struggling to find those products. I asked Mr Chewy and they suggested the Honest Kitchen; it says "free range chicken", which isn't highest welfare standards but better than most. And the dog adores it - he gets wildly excited when it's being prepared.

  • My dogs favorite!

    By on

I've been doing so much research lately about many different dog foods & I'm so happy I've found The Honest Kitchen! I have 3 large dogs so I wanted to find a high quality food that wouldn't break the bank. A 10lb box makes 40lbs of food & is so easy to make. My dogs go crazy when it's time for dinner...I have one very finicky eater & even he loves it! I now feel confident in the food I've chosen for my dogs & feel like I've gotten them on a diet that is way more natural & meant for canids!

  • Fabulous Food!

I love THK and so does my pup! It was suggested to me via live chat with a Chewy customer service rep. She really went above and beyond to find food that meets the needs of my Dalmatian. Pros: Great ingredients No organ meats/Low-Moderate purine level Cons: Expensive! The "40lbs" estimate is a bit misleading. This is not exactly the same as buying a 40lb bag of kibble. It contains 40, 1 cup scoops. Keep that in mind when purchasing.

  • Great product

    By on

I've been making my own dog food for about a year and a half. I look knowing what they're eating, but it's very time consuming. When I found The Honest Kitchen dehydrated dog food, I ordered a 2lb box so I could try it on the dogs. All 5 of them love it. I'm giving them half of the Revel and half of my dog food (to get them used to the Revel.) Most of them go for the Revel first. I'm so happy I found this food.

  • great food

I have used this dog food off & on for several years & have done my own research on dog food that would be good for my dogs. I use this to supplement with kibble for the dogs I have now. A lot of people whom have my breed of dog have theirs on raw diets& that is how I came to using this food.

  • Smells really bad

    By on

When I first opened the box I literally almost puked. That is the only problem I have with the food. And I know dog food is not supposed to smell good so it's totally fine. You get used to the smell after a couple times. But my dog LOVES the food so I will definitely keep buying it.

  • Always pleased with Honest Kitchen

My dogs have tried just about each flavor. The grain free chicken they loved the most and was also the most filling. the grain versions of each line contain wayyyyyyyyyyy to many carrots and they do not digest them so it feels like wasted filler and lack of nutrition. With that said though, All the grain free lines are awesome just pricey. With our three dogs it is economical for us to buy the Revel chicken, tasty and the lowest carrot total of the bunch. We also buy the Pre mix boxes as well and for our larger dogs we do this with meat or Nulo Kibble and it does the trick. Peppy, shiny and active. To see my dogs and foster dogs this happy and healthy, the price takes a back seat for now =) My dogs have tried just about each flavor. • Dog food that is healthy

    By on

I'm sure your product is very healthy and well thought out. My dogs are very picky and they just wouldn't eat it. Is there any other thing I could do with it to make them eat it. It's so expensive hate to waste it. Ginny

  • Hannah loves this food!!

My dog has Megaesophagus so I have to be careful in what I feed her but this food is really good for her. She digests it very well and her poop is nice and firm. I'm mixing it in with her canned food and also giving her the Revel in between her regular meals to give her the extra calories. So far, I have nothing but good things to say about this food and will keep buying this for her.
